ALOCS 7 Piece Camping Cookset - Boil Test #3 - Using a ALOCS Burner

Over the last couple of days I've been doing boil tests on the ALOCS 7 Piece Camping Cookset but I've done so using my Mini Trangia burner. But then I started getting comments and messages asking me to use the burner that came with the cookset instead of the Mini Trangia.

So in this video I do the same boil test as I did on Boil Test #1.

Thank you for watching my videos,
Hiram

In the many tests I've done in and outdoors with many stoves and setups, the ALOCS Stove is the very best Alcohol Stove you can buy by far, the Fancy Feast stove is 2nd, I carry both when I go out.

Actually the arms on the burner close inward to fit smaller pots also, not just spread all the way open for big pots and you showed in the beginnig, I love that small stand, it fits a large vareity of pots and with a windscreen works great.

I've had this Alocs for many years and it beats the Trangia hands down (which I've not used since). Also, the Alocs can be as a wood stove. And you can also use the burner in two positions: lower (original) and upper. With a little bit of imagination, you can have 'two stoves' going at the same time by removing the lower base to use as a separate burner and the main body as a wood stove, or burner (upper position). How about that?!?

The Alocs burner has a slightly different jet configuration to the Trangia.... It has a double row of jets, compared to Trangias single row.

Hi Hiram, how many inches/Cm from flame to pot base. Seems higher than most other trangia (style) pot stands. Thanx in advance. nighty night buddy...bex

I have the same 7pcs set and I got a rapid boil at 7 minutes

i bet you could make it boil faster if you added reflective foil on the inside ... that black pot stand is most likely absorbing heat

I do like the ALOCS simmer ring. But I'll stick with my Trangia.

Question, , where do u buy methanol fuel. All I can find is the Walmart fuel sold from the paint department that is actually for a alcohol stoves. Thanks for any info

So, at 0.95 oz (weight), that translates to 1.2 fl oz or about 36 ml. This would indicate that this set up uses a tremendous amount of fuel. With that much fuel being burned, I would expect the time to boil to be half ( 3 1.2 to 4 minutes). It seems like an extremely inefficient system.
