Hi - Just found your reactions and discovery of Dimash. This was the first performance of the first night of the Chinese competition show - The Singer - in 2017. Generally only accomplished Chinese singers could participate. But Dimash had won several contests in Kazakhstan, and was invited to compete as a wild card. No one had any idea who he was, and as it was his first performance, the audience was advised in advance by the producers to applaud and give him a warm welcome to the stage. By the end of the song, they were applauding and cheering for real. He took first place for that night's competition. The next day, he had 600 million hits on Weibo (China’s Instagram)... and the rest, as they say, is history.

This was 4 years ago on a Chinese singing show. This song put Dimash on the map.. He actually has gotten better .. Listen to all the songs he sang on this show .. THEN move on to more recent stuff .. Trust me as a D.E.A.R. ( That is what Dimash calls his fans) You WILL NOT be disappointed and WILL be blown away EVERY time.. Those aren’t his highest or his lowest notes, ha ha. He sings every genre from opera to rap, has songs in 12 languages, plays seven instruments, dances, composes, directs, that performance was from I am Singer 2017 and he became an overnight sensation. He is from a Kazakhstan and is 6’3. Hardworking, respectful, humble. If you watch till the end of the footage, he always thanks the musicians etc. His mother is an opera singer and his dad, a contemporary singer and music producer.

From Kazakhstan which in Central Asia. Gained their independence from Russia October 25th 1990.
Dimash and many Kazaks are Eurasian.
He is at 6' 3 1/4" tall.
Was 22 when this video was made and is now 26.
He was basically unheard of until this performance in China and woke up the next morning needing
body guards for protection.
His Mother (Svetlana/Sveta) is a soprano opera singer for the Kazakhstan Opera Company, and his father (Kanat) is a pop singer, producer and manager for Dimash.
He is considered the greatest singer in the world. You will understand when you hear more of his work.

Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has just started his PhD. His range is over 6 octaves (almost 7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it.
In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album ( platinum in 37 seconds, triple platinum in under an hour).
It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. You just reacted to THE best vocalist of ALL time! You’ve not heard anything yet, this performance was almost 4 years ago, you should hear him now! You will be amazed, Dimash sings in all genres, Rock, Pop, Opera, Folk.... Anything you react to will be surprising and not even what you’ve heard before from Dimash, his performances are that different. This performance by the then largely unknown Dimash outside of Kazakhstan, got 600 million internet views in two days and the Singer had to hire bodyguards for the young performer. Since then he has built a fan base of millions across well over 140 countries. The suit he is wearing in this video was auctioned off for $20, 000.
