A solid is a three-dimensional object, i.e. it should have three dimensions such as length, breadth, thickness etc. Various shapes of solids are considered such as prisms, pyramids, cylinder, cone etc. The topic "Projection of Solids" in Engineering Graphics describes how different 2D views of a solid has been drawn in a drawing sheet. The solid is usually located in the first quadrant formed by the principal planes and followed the first angle projection.
There are four different positions of a solid as follows,
1. Axis is parallel to both the planes
2. Axis is perpendicular to one plane and parallel to the other
3. Axis is inclined to one plane and parallel to the other
4. Axis is inclined to both the planes

Watch this part-2 Tamil video (Lecture 10.2) that explains the third position of a solid and a problem that involves a pentagonal prism.
