Joyful joyful, this was my late son’s favorite song. He was 5 when he died and was special needs, but he could sing and he did it joyfully. He was born 36 years ago today.

When a deaf man composes a magnum opus of this magnitude. You know that passion and mastery have converged to it's final glorious conclusion.

It took Beethoven nearly two years to compose Symphony No. 9. A profound masterpiece of ingenuity that only he could pull off. The incredible thing is that he did so without being able to hear a single note. ( Hearing loss began in 1798. By 1816 he was completely deaf )

My beloved late wife and I chose this to be played as we walked back up the aisle after exchanging our vows. My knees are now buckled, I can't stop weeping.

This symphony is, I believe, the most beautiful piece of music ever composed. It fills my heart and soul with heavenly joy.

Holy crap. Out of nowhere that just brought me to full tears. That’s the first time this has ever just randomly happened to me listening to music. I’ve gotta listen to more classical...

THE most beautiful piece of music ever composed. Composed, by a deaf person... my respects, Ludwik.

Lyrics:
Freude Schöner Götterfunken,
Tochter Aus Elysium
Wir Betreten Feuertrunken
Himmlische Dein Heiligtum
Deine Zauber Binden Wieder
Was Die Modi Streng Geteilt
Alle Menschen Werden Brüder
Wo Drein Sanfter Flügel Weilt

WOW WOW WOW. When that satellite image zoomed into where the concert was being held, THAT was amazing, truly AMAZING. I loved it. One tiny planet in space and all this life going on in that one place.

Be thankful everyday for our freedom, our healthcare, our democracy, as bad and imperfect as it might be at times and our timeless beautiful tradition and culture showing in every street corner, in any piece of music, in every kind of art ancient and new. May Europe prosper forever.

I want to live in the community that comes together to celebrate, listen, appreciate, and savor together. Wherever this is, I’m moving there. It’s where I belong.
