Just to clarify on the non-replaceable / non-rechargeable batteries (as I saw that a lot of you were unhappy with that idea). This would be the only way for Apple to achieve designs like the Card & Card Sticky. Other tracker manufacturers also have non-replaceable / non-rechargeable batteries. Of course that replaceable/rechargeable batteries would be preferred, however, designs such as these would not be possible.

I've bought 8 airtags, I love them, there's no way on earth I would have bought a single one if the battery was not rechargeable or replaceable!

A non rechargeable version would be very bad for the environment unless Apple created a recycling process to to deal with the e-waste.

The battery will most likely stay removable as a safety precaution to prevent giving stalkers the benefit.

- We live in 2022….why not have a NFC rechargeable battery?
- Wouldn’t touch the Padlock for the price and it needs a manual override if the fingerprint reader gets damaged. (Ever seen how the guys at the airport load luggage?).
- An encrypted slim card would be good that nobody else can track. Think similar to an IMIE number on any phone

Here in Canada the AirTag is $39.99 plus tax so nearly $50 each and I wanted them to come out in metal not plastic and have a rechargeable battery in side of it that charges off the MagSafe puck or Apple Watch cord or the back of the iPhone 12 and up

I understand your reasoning behind this, but it doesn’t align with Apple’s more green initiative. They even get down to the packaging the products come in. They won’t be designing a disposable product.

Imagine how much waste these AirTags would create if they were not rechargeable? Do we really want to put more toxic waste material like plastic and batteries into our soil? 😢

In addition to a second-generation AirTag, I would love for Apple to design two AirTag Wallets: 1) a Ridge-like minimalist wallet and 2) a traditional leather wallet with a rechargeable port or through MagSafe. Love the AirTag Lock idea.

I think Apple should hire you to do their product development lol. by the way, I already have the Chipolo card spot in my regular and MagSafe wallet and love how slim it is.
