Microsoft doesn't need to make a portable XBOX, they already have them. They're called Laptops, and other 3rd party handheld PCs like Ayaneo, ROG Ally, etc. They're running Windows, and the OS made by Microsoft.

If its under the Xbox branding its gonna be a streaming handheld and run a custom OS. If they're making a handheld PC to compete with the Steam Deck its probably gonna use the Microsoft branding and use Windows (its possible it'll just be a tablet style Surface with attachable controllers sold separately).

Playstation's "handheld" isn't actually a handheld. You have to connect it to a PS5, and it will only be used like that. You can't use it like the steam deck or the switch, and it's price is a bit insane

It’ll just be Cloud Gaming similarly to the PlayStation Portal, like a handheld Stadia pretty much but connected to the Microsoft ecosystem through Xbox. Ever since the later half of the Xbox One, it’s what they’re trying to push as the future

You know what would be better? Something like what Playstation is doing BUT allow people to connect to it directly over ethernet on your local network. Put it on a rack with a NAS and play XBox on any TV in your home with almost no input lag. One console running games on any TV at home whenever.

When the court ruling is done with people will find out the idea of a mobile (portable) platform was scrapped earlier this year.

MS was intending on making yet another push for ther ARM (risc) devices but cancelled all due cost vs risk vs roi.

I'd say check back in 2025 if the overall market changes.

Lol, I like how you didn't mention SteamDeck. It was the first legit handheld PC at a price point approaching something realistic (and ROG is seriously late to the game, GPD Win has been around for a decade)
