From my knowledge, they overcharge for the parts you’re getting, whilst also reducing the thermal performance due to the weird case they use. I think gamers nexus has a video on the prebuilt you’re using, that’s were I get the negative stigma from

It is weird. Had my Aurora R12 for a few years and have had no issue. Same with my Laptop from Alienware. I actually love their Desktops and Laptops so much that I recommend them.

I don't think a lot of those people actually owned one. They just jump on the hate train. I've owned 2 laptops, both of which work perfectly still. The oldest one is from 2009, I used it all through college. Still worked like it did new, just ancient. You wait for deals and can get them at a good price.

They also do scummy things on their laptops like not including a 50 cent hardrive bracket to install a second ssd when customer spent thousands on a laptop. They also purposely reduced the performance of the 3070 laptop by reducing the graphics cores on the m15 r5/r6 Alienware. It wasn’t fixed until they got negative press from YouTubers who did tests on the machines.

I think the problem is that Dell bought Alienware. Before that they were one of the original boutique gamer PC brands and they charged a premium but you generally got a premium PC. Today they are overpriced and undercooled. It is also worth noting that the state of PC parts, especially cases and cooking, have come a long way since Dell bought the brand and I would say that their investment hasn’t kept up on the performance front. They have a cool look and a little eco system but their app to run it all gets a ton of hate and the feeling that you are getting a no compromise experience for your no compromise investment is just not there any more on the desktop front. I would argue that their laptops might be their strong suit at this time. It’s too bad because when I was a 20-something in the Army, I saved for over a year to get an Alienware back in the day. That machine was insane. I am sure some of Dells underhanded business tactics probably play a role here too.

Poor thermals and proprietary parts that are hard to replace are the common complaints I’ve heard. Sometimes people mention the cost, but if you catch these things on sale you can get quite a bargain.

I was thinking the same and I don't get why... I love my Alienware laptop, I do 3D animation on it and I have no problems! I also think it's very pretty, it is one of the thinnest gaming laptops on the market today, which is very rare, most of them are chunky and heavy

I know in the past they’ve overcharged for quality of parts. But I’ve had the new Aurora R 16 for a minute now. And it’s the best PC I’ve owned for the dollar.

Their desktops suck, but their laptops are good in my opinion

I mean, their laptops and monitors are kinda worth it if on sale, but their desktops are usually overheating and cost too much. The new R16 are the right step, even though they lose their uniqueness, just hope they get it right for next gen.

I had an Alienware and it was terrible, dell charged 150 dollars for a 256 GB ssd and 1TB hdd that were both worth around 50 dollars. It also comes with a single stick of ram which is like kicking your cpu in the knees and reduces performance. My Alienware came with a stock cooler that was literally from 2005 and it caused the i7 to spike up to 100c when opening chrome. Dell also uses cheap plastic cases with cheap metal chassis that is probably close to 20 years old and I’m not exaggerating at all. When I saved the cpu and graphics card from the Alienware and actually cooled the computer properly I got around 50 more fps in COD Warzone 2. Also there is a video by gamers nexus that explains every thing perfectly TLDR my old Alienware overheated and by salvaging some components I greatly improved performance.

Yeah I had their laptop. It constantly overheated. It was my first gaming laptop and was a graduation present. Never going for Alienware again

I have only one Alienware which is the 2010 M11x R1 and it’s my favourite laptop of all time. I still have it stored away today.

All you gotta do is look at the price and then open it up and look at every area they cheaped out on

I think it’s something to do with the pc parts like the gpu and everything being soldered onto the pc making upgrading not possible idk if this is true never gotten an alienware just heard of this soldering parts thing somewhere

With Alienware R15, if you’re paying for a 13900KF you’ll get 20% less performance compared to a stock 13900KF due to Alienware’s thermal throttling. That’s just one example out of a few other issues. I own one and I found this out a year later lol

its the over pricing for what you get i found one for cheap but had to rebuild everything

Just got this with an i7-13700kf and Rtx4080. Usually I’ll avoid Alienware because of the reputation it has but I can’t say no to a sale of $1500

Boomstick.
