Can the ant escape being trapped in the pen circle ?
Will drawing a circle with a sharpie pen around a ant trap it and stop it from leaving the doodle circle like some kind of false barrier or even like a form of insect bug trap ? Is it really a case of sometimes limits only exist in the mind ?
Will we be able to trap this ant and control this funny little bug in the sharpie doodle circle.
lets try this insect experiment and find out!

i think ants go into a sort of panic mode when disturbed like that

Maybe it’s the ant that is the problem

As you can see, the ant at the 2:16 mark did not go over the ink until the ink dried.

Maybe it depends on the individual ant and it's own barriers, like how it depends on each person's... Great video nonetheless, now I don't have to test. :)

Personally i do not think it has anything to do with the smell as recently a friend tried this with some chalk. The ant did get out but for a bit (about 40 sec) it was stuck and was trying to find a way out. i think it is to do with a sudden change of environment or a sense of danger. perhaps that ant had been in an environment like that -although very unlikely. You see in the video that the ant, at the start, took a bit longer to figure out what was happening but once it had figured out it wasn't much of a problem anymore (proving that ants have some form of memory). I suggest doing it with a number of ants to get a certain result and not just one.
I just wanted to say that i hardly know anything about insects and this comment was purely based on what i know (or think i know) this is a suggestion and i would be happy if someone could correct any part of this comment. :)

I love how it said "no ants were harmed in the making of this video". As if it matters, as if ant abuse is a thing. It's not a dog.

The reason why the ant avoids the line (when it works) is due to chemicals released by the ink. It's not as if the ant sees the line as a barrier, rather, they operate by scent and are avoiding toxins.

I don't think colors matter, it just depends on how much ink comes out of your pen. If the ink is wet, the bug doesn't want to step/get stuck in it, but once it dries, then the bug dares to step over it. I don't think ur pens are inky enough (by that I mean if you run your finger over the pen line, the ink should smear across the paper, that's how u know it's wet)
