I purchased my 5D about three years ago in order to shoot a wedding. I ended up shooting portraits later. The prints looked awesome! Then I was able to land a job with this dinosaur. I contacted a local camera repair shop a couple weeks ago to have it cleaned and maintained for the next season, and I was told it has exceeded its service life expectancy and Canon no longer makes the parts for it. Well, let's see. I purchased it about three years ago for around $500 and ended up replacing the shutter a year or two later for around $350. It's still working great! Yes, I've since upgraded, but I still have this beast and shot more portraits with it a couple weeks ago. It's old, low res, low number of focus points, and working great. Slap some $1k+ glass on it, and no one will know it's the old 5D unless they read the meta data.

I bet that camera was shipped from Japan, every time I get lenses or bodies from there I get neat little notes from the sellers....and they include weird straps with flowers on them (seriously...almost every time)

I bought an EOS 5D about 4 years ago it was practically in mint condition along with the vertical grip. It's a full frame camera and there's no reason to spend thousands more on an upgrade.

A word of caution on the 5D Classic.  There was an issue with the mirror coming off of the camera due to a problem with the adhesive that was initially used.  Canon to their credit has been placing new adhesive on 5D Classics so if you buy the 5D Classic run the serial number by Canon to see whether or not the camera is (1) affected or (2) has already been fixed by Canon.

The video on the Canon 5D looks as good as the one on the Nikon DF ... imho.

The 5D MKI is still my favorite camera and currently my only camera. There is just something about the sensor that wows me every time. Such a great bargain right now!
