I can't believe it's been 8 months since this trailer came out. Time flies.

On my first time through the Cerulean Coast I was anxiously waiting to get jumped by a dancer and it just never happened.

Not having the dancers being natural encounters in the Cerulean coast was a massive missed opportunity imo. Same with all of the Nameless Mausoleum bosses - they should’ve just been part of the world like the potentate enemies. The light blue hue they all share makes them far less visually distinct as bosses as well.

Bummed that final shot of the scadutree isnt in the DLC. It was the most intriguing part of the whole trailer to me

the change in messmer's voiceline is so good. that wearied emotion is just top notch, his voice actor did an incredible job with all he did.

Idk why, but it feels like that was meant to be a cutscene of Miquella shattering his greatrune. They instead made it a background effect for pacing reasons maybe?

I think moving the dancer and making her into a spectre was a weird choice

In the first trailer there was Double Blade Black Knight instead of Rellana in his combat arena

The trailer OST goes so hard and it’s immoral of Fromsoft to not release it a as a standalone track

abyss wood expectation: oh boy we're getting death blighted
reality: GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE TORRENT!

1:39 Ah yes. The normal horned hairy hippo with a fluffy cat tail here. A regular Moo Deng.

Nice touch adding the “spectral steed” detail when showing Midra’s manse

Finally finding the Abyssal Woods the first time and getting jumpscared by torrent's death animation is now a core DLC memory for me, I was in denial the whole time there thinking i can summon him later.

The most interesting of these to me is how different the shadowed Enir-Ilim looks. It's like the whole layout of the area was redesigned.

That recreation attempt at the end there might actually explain what happened. They likely picked that angle of Miquella to not only hide the gate and Radahn reveals, but also Miquella's face, as that was a running theme for him. And the last shot of the tree was purely done for cinematic flair, especially since the very DLC is titled after the tree, and Miquella is directly involved in the plot. As for the invisible veils, I now feel more convinced it was just not rendered at the time and went unnoticed, but of course that and everything else I've said isn't for certain.

Still salty they showed the tarnished riding Torrent in the abyssal woods and then made us walk on foot the whole way

What I find strange about that final scene we never see is that one of the interviews asked Miyazaki about it and he said he couldn't comment as it was a story related moment? What happened there?

my guess is that the reason the dancer is shown on the field is for cinematography reasons: her red outfit contrasts really well over the blue in the bg, showcasing her movements in a aestetically pleasing way. Same case with Dane(yellow-ish outfit) shown in Rellana's arena(blue). Or even the golden Hippo, it looks way cooler in the overworld than it does inside the keep.
I still agree that not seeing at least one dancer in the cerulean coast is a missed opportunity.

My personal copium is that Fromsoft will eventually give Elden Ring the Scholar of the First Sin treatment and it will all make sense with that

I always wondered about this
But its typical with games to have content in the trailer that doesn't appear in the final product.

Destiny 1 is a great example
