Need advice,

I have a common 3 Ton split system gas furnace. My compressor failed after 15 years of service. I recently purchased a new 3.5 Ton heat pump condenser as a replacement. I would like to take advantage of the heat pump technology and use the gas furnace as backup heat. My question revolves around the specifications of the new replacement evaporator coil.

I noticed that most heat pump condenser units are married to an air handler with electric backup heat, instead of an evaporator coil box on a gas furnace. I understand that gas heat is possible as backup with a heat pump, but I'm confused about what modifications need to be made to the evaporator coil TXV.

Please advise if there are special TXV for heat pump evaporator coil configuration and if there is something that is needs to be done to the furnace.

Thanks
Kevin

Thanks for making this video. I'm getting a quote on a heat pump for my home next week and this info will be very helpful. Question for you if you get it in time: Can my AC unit and the new heat pump unit both share the same ducting? I don't want to eliminate my existing AC unit. Mainly getting the heat pump for winter use. Thanks again.

I recently had my HVAC company do a service. My Trane SEER unit is 12 years old
I was told my run capacitor was a little weak and to replace it was $385. It’s crazy to replace a $30 capacitor and 15 mins of work lol.
Also I asked how long I could expect this unit to last. Was told 12-15 years. So I asked the price of a new Trane unit and was told the 3 ton Trane 20 SEER indoor and outdoor would be around $22k. Wow I’m I the only one thinks these prices are crazy 😂

How about American standard heat pump packaged unit for 7000 sq ft of living space on .3 levels? Also would 2 units with 3 ton better or one with 6 ton?

I have enjoyed your videos. We are going to get a Trane heat pump (16 Seer). Should we do it now or wait until 1/1/23? Can a current Trane 16 be installed after 1/1/23 or will it have to be a more expensive unit. We are in MD.

Is installation of a heat pump that different vs a standard central a/c system? I am planning on getting a high velocity system in my house and I asked the contractor what the cost difference would be if we went with a heat pump vs adding a plain heating element in the air handler. He stated that he wasn’t familiar at all with heat pumps.

Good video. Do these ranges include creating ductwork (say if you're building new) or is that a separate process? Because someone simply replacing existing units would pay much less.

Fort Worth here. We’re dumping our 17 year HVAC (elec / gas) for a 2-stage heat pump.

Does the cost of the heat pump include installation? What about the air handler? Is that included in the price too? The video really doesn’t explain any of this.

Does this system include cooling systems and does it lower monthly electricity bill?

What I never hear in these videos is how much wattage each heat pump takes? This to me in the long run will dictate my choice?

Are these heat pumps only repairable by the manufacturer?

Well it looks like you better be pretty young to get a pay back at this cost of as good system And make sure your area will hold up. You don't want to be stuck in your home because no one will pay the extra
