Postpartum nurse here! I loved this video, and I just want to stress two things that you touched on.

#1 Do not EVER feel bad for calling the nurse! We are there for you 24/7 and it is both our job and privilege to help you make that transition into new motherhood, first baby or fifth! I have moms who call me every 15 minutes for everything under the sun and you know what? I always walk in the room with a smile because you are trusting me with such a precious and intimate time in your life, and I WANT to be a part of that!

#2 Your body is flooded with hormones before, during and after delivery! They can last for several weeks, and not everyone's body plays nice with them! "Baby blues" are insanely common and are a sign that your body is trying to reduce and change the hormones it has been producing. Feeling sad that you no longer have a baby in your belly (even if your baby is right next to you), feeling overprotective, or even feeling nervous or on edge are completely NORMAL reactions! If you start experiencing extreme anxiety, a "detachment" from your baby (not wanting to hold or look at them, crying when you interact with them, etc), please let your OB doctor know. As I said earlier, not all bodies like to adjust the way we need them to, and hormonal imbalances can really make you feel like you aren't yourself. The great thing is that a hormone imbalance is TREATABLE! You don't ever have to feel alone or a failure because you're not, you're adapting to a new life and sometimes you need a little boost.

#2a If your panic or anxiety gets to the point that you are having thoughts of harming others, yourself or your baby, call 911 FIRST, then make arrangements to speak with your OB later. Asking for help is NEVER a reason for shame, especially if you or someone you know is at risk of harm.

I seriously applaud you for showing your belly shortly after giving birth. When I had my kids I had zero knowledge of what my body would do or look like after giving birth, and it was a shock. Your husband talking to your son was amazing. It’s obvious he’s a good dad. I’m not even 7 minutes in and I’m cheering for you guys.

I’m a labor and delivery nurse and I have to agree with you about the swaddling. I swaddle nice and tight which makes most fussy babies fall right asleep. You can do it at home too, just make sure it’s tight!

I just want to say that you’ve completely melted my whole entire heart.. have baby fever x 900 million lol! I have been petrified to try again after two back to back losses very early on.. that’s actually how I originally found your channel - cried with you during yours and you were that friend and support I didn’t have in real life. Now 2 years after my first loss, my husband and I had planned to start again in sept and when the time came I chickened out and I decided to wait a little longer because I’m so petrified to be heartbroken like that again and honestly just of pregnancy in general. I have a 10 year old so it’s been many years lol but watching you has made me feel excited for this time again. You are so strong mama ❤️🥰 congratulations from your friend over here that you didn’t even know you had 🤣😂

When she talked about the first night with the baby it is so true! The first night we brought our daughter home we got her down and crawled into bed and 2 min later she made a little squeak and me and my husband threw off our covers and raced over to her😂 we still laughed about it and it was 2 years ago haha

I always think of dan as such a "manly man", so to see him being so tender and sweet to Sawyer, melts me. Sorry 🤷‍♀️🤣

I just got a faint line on a pregnancy test. I wasn’t quite ready for a second baby but I’m getting excited. Watching this video for the second time because all I’m thinking about right now is babies!!

There were people sleeping on the floor in the waiting room when i had my first. Also I was put in like a broom closet because they booked too many inductions for the same day. You deff got an amazing room!
