Amazing human being, so much integrity and intelligence in one person, 90 years old and still fighting injustice, he has just visited Lula here in Brazil today. Thank you so much.

Noam Chomsky is a moral guide and reflector for a wavering generation. I truly wonder who will take his place once he has gone.

What is the mechanism by which the systems of "meaning potential" (to use Halliday's term) associated with the different language systems used by the different speech communities today evolve? If the lexemes and sentence (and propositional) schemata of a language system have the structure of categories, how did they get to be what we have today?

Dear Mr CH...I have a ?...i learned years ago that "eye for an eye tooth for a tooth" is not about crime committed and punished but acknowledging personal responsibility and correcting what i have done? What do you say?

I was going to say: this is the nicest Chomsky interview I've heard. He didn't bother with political jargon for once. Oh no, he did. He had to throw in a reference to anarchism at the last second. But as G.K. Chesterton said, what if people only ever learnt to dance, rather than to speak? Or only communicated by means of a flag waving code? Or as I wonder: what if wordless music is actually speech and all other human language are mere unintelligible animal noises and hieroglyphics. Do linguists chase their own tails? Bow-wow. Wikipedia claims that Chomsky has no interest in music or art. Only language. And political verbal diarrhoea. His idea of Christian Zionism being the US/UK madness is a funny one. And, if one watches his interview "a system without money" it seems clear that he can't imagine life without money. Is tyranny all in thee brain? You have to give him credit though for being articulate. Ah, I've just seen a link: "Noam Chomsky: thought without language". that sounds more like my cup of tea.
