I think the almond cookies from Hong Kong are slighlty different. We put an actual almond in the middle of the cookie, instead of red food coloring (never actually seen cookies with that red dot)

These actually look like stuff I find in Hong Kong, but we usually have a red bean or lotus seed paste filling.
