I've collected early roman empire coins for about 15 years. My interest being from Augustus to late 3rd century has provided a broad range of knowledge through various dynasties, emperors, denominations and classification of imperial, provincial or civic types. Your videos remain a precious source of much valued information for me and doubtless many other collectors. Thanks very much for your terrific hard work.

a fine video. I have just started my collection and have a few Aurelianus and several coins with Constantine I. It is really possible to get started at a very moderate budget (under 20 usd per coin)

The Romans who made the coins must have been pretty annoyed when they basically had a new general emperor every year or less. "Another?"

I still try to amplify the list of roman emperors in my collection even though it becomes increasingly difficult as the percentage of fake coins seems to have incresed a lot during the last years while especially the former affordable coins that were often sold for 1 US$ or 1 Eur on E-bay seem not to exist any longer. As nearly everybody I started with the affordable coins from the constaninian age. From the first century I would recomend the quadrans from Claudius. They can still be found in relatively good conservation for a relatively low price. Among the late roman coins the half portrait of Arcadius with helmet and spear is relatively cheap and quite interesting for the way the emperor is shown.

Hi I discovered your channel and now I'm seeing all the videos they are very interesting. I wonder where you find the stylized images of the coins you use while giving explanations, can you tell me?

I have a concordia militum coin and cannot tell if it's Aurelian, Diocletion or Maximianus of the obverse.

Hi, I have bought my first Roman coin in Àureo and Calicò, an auction house in Barcelona. It is a vespasian tetradrachm from Antioch for 45 euros. Do you think it was a good buy?
Greetings from Spain!

I think Diocletian coin is from 285-286 AD since in the reverse it is written "AVG" and not "AVGG"
