A thing that would also help newcomers is when the hype boxes they need to get started with the whole thing aren't always listed as "Unavailable online."

I would recommend as an essential creating cheat sheet breaking down by phase when certain unit abilities, faction wide rules and statagems can be used. Just helps to consolidate all that on to one page.

Terrain. Bottles, books, kids toys and fish tank castles also serve as excellent terrain

Thanks Auspex. You helped get me into this, I just went to my local Warhammer store and picked up my first World Eater combat patrol and I'm excited to start painting it tomorrow :)

For Terrain, Midwinter Mini's has a good video Called Sprue Terrain, where he shows how to make scaleable terrain using cereal boxes and the sprue frames left over from your minis.

Hell of a lot cheaper than official terrrain and if youre creative, can be just as good.

Edit: He uses PVA glue, super glue, plastic glue and a hot glue gun, so its not pick up and assemble as such, but its still a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to tailor make for your own table than spending 30-40 quid on a burned out building frame

You are by far the best warhammer gaming side of things youtuber I’ve come across.

You explain things in simple easy to understand ways, and just tell it how it is, giving your opinions and such.

Idk, when I saw some of the other how to play videos and they were these big fancy tables and shit while they’re saying “now you don’t need all this” and such, it feels weird I guess. Seeing just simple backgrounds and text is nice.

And your voice also brings so much to these videos, you just feel like one of the mates explaining to his friends how to get into something he likes, which I love

So happy you're doing this! This is the first edition of 40k that I will actually play and your videos have already been so informative

For list building I'd suggest going the SEO Winters route and recommend simple triplicate unit lists, emphasizing that if someone collects a little bit of everything it'll be hard for them to have a cohesive list and struggle to learn from it.
For playing I'd cover how important deployment is and simple examples of how strategic reserves/infiltration/deep striking can be.

I'd maybe consider a philosophical video explaining the mentality and attitude of tabletop gaming, how it's unlike video games, that it's a slow moving hobby, it's pretty much an unfair game and that balance tends to be wonky because it's a cyclical release structure. Also that 'pile of shames' and burn out is common.
The point is that so many people jump right in and then get shocked when they find out that it's not really convenient and can be a mixed bag, requiring a little more from people than the average entertainment.
I'm way too harsh to really explain these things to people but you tend to have a diplomatic approach.

One good tip. Pick one army and stay with it. Seen too many people go with too many things and end up having tons of non painted models and never using them.

Just money 😂

End of the video ❤

What a great video. Just getting started can be a bit of a hurdle for some, this is truly helping the community.
I'd love to see a video like this covering what one would need/what to expect in a tournament setting.

Thanks for doing a series like this. 10th Edition will be my first time playing the after collecting and painting for almost a year now. Very exited to bring my army to the table and learn how to play.

Great video. I just started the hobby, still in the process of painting my first box. I got interested in part because of your videos, so more content like this is much appreciated.

So psyched for this edition! An English friend who is leaving my state gave me his mostly untouched Indomitus box, with a Command starter mixed in. So excited to build a force of Ogdobekh Necrons for this 10th! It will be wonderful to get to play them right out of the rulebook, and I'll be looking forward to their codex in Winter.

Honestly best channel for new players to ease themselves into this daunting hobby. Very good video in particular, i hope you will continue going over individual units updated for 10th edition once that lands 😊

Literally JUST REALISED! if the rules say roll one dice at a time, you just need TWO dice 😂😂 one for each player for hit / wound / save and two for charges!! Only took a couple of decades because I love buckets of dice! 😅😅

Great idea for a new series of vids. I'm new and haven't bothered to learn 9th and instead enjoyed painting with the goal of being able to jump right in to 10th

This is exactly what I needed after all the in-depth rules reveals, thank you. That got very confusing after a while. I'm really hoping I can get the Leviathan box so I can fully learn the rules.
