Do you really need to buy that expensive materialistic item to impresd others? Do you feel the need to impress others all the time? If you do, then you care too much about what others think of you. Once you get the mindset of not caring what others think of you, I assure you that your self-confidence will skyrocket and that you will go through life with much ease.

Agree. The bank account is more important. Leasing is crazy. Dave Ramsey even said leasing can add up to millions over 30 years of leasing. I don't know how people have 5 children or more on average incomes, and how can they possibly save for retirement. It's ok to buy nice things like a car as long as it's a very small percentage of ones portfolio. I keep cars 20 to 30 years. Saving and investing is very very important especially when one is young.

I invest so that I can give it to my children and they can do the same, and not have to work so hard. I wanna raise my kids financially ok, and I want my kids to look at me in the eyes and say “Dad I’m proud of you, I’m proud that you did what most people couldn’t do. I’m proud that you helped our family get out of poverty.”
