Optimum Moisture Content of Substrate Prior to Applying Cementitious-Based Repair Materials (FAQ 28/364.XXT)
Presented By: Liying Jiang, Jensen Hughes, Inc.
Achieving a lasting bond between repair materials and existing concrete is a critical requirement for durable concrete repair. Moisture conditioning of a prepared substrate has a direct effect on bond strength of repair material and the durability of repair. This presentation will discuss the factors that influence the formation of bond and the degree of adhesion, why the surface moisture condition of the substrate concrete is critical, and the test results associated with using a range of substrate moisture conditioning.
