Can't honestly say that I'm going to follow the whole "don't climb a tree in the rain" advice 😂😂

A common mistake I see in edits is the loss of spatial reference and orientation. Editors looking over copious amounts of footage can have their memory play tricks on them which can dictate and fill in blanks of action unintentionally. The loss of orientation in an action scene can confuse an audience. Although a cut-on-action edit could be really cool looking, it could be a point of confusion if the audience loses their frame of spatial reference, particularly if the director has "crossed the line" in shooting. It's always good to get a point of view from someone who hasn't seen the raw footage to watch the cut to find out if they were able to follow exactly what the action is conveying at any time, and not feel disorientated.
One other quick one is if there are shots which don't propel, convey, or serve the story, cut them out.
