Nice video. I got the blade off and was wondering how to get the next bit off. You showed perfectly how to tap it off. Thank you. You got a well-deserved thumbs up!

That is awesome, I have two mowers, one has a bent crankshaft and I bought another one because I didn't know how to fix it so I just kept it for a backup. Now I'm going to fix it myself.

I ran over a half buried piece of metal from some kind of a tray it's amazing when you try to mow a property or litterbugs just dumped all kinds of junk that spread everywhere and how many people out there don't know the concept of a trash can because I also ran over some half buried yarn it was a yarn ball and that literally broke the mower. So when I tried to start the mower it sounded like a machine gun and it vibrated so loud I thought it was going to explode or something. I'm going to try this method and see if it helps thank you! Because of the economy now a lawn mower cost $200 even $300 for the cheapest mower but Walmart used to have them for $120 for a nice sized small mower. Now it's double in price so this will help hopefully.

Cool...I thought I saw it move back like on the second hit...but I agree with the guy who suggested a long pipe....

Thanks MacGyver! The first video I saw. And the way you described it shaking is what my mower is doing. I am going to try and do what you suggested. Wish me luck.

You had me nervous when the spark plug was in and you were handling the blade. Great fix, with a cabin in the precambrian shield this will save me thousands

I used to pound the sand outta my old mower’s crank when it bent but then discovered the more controlled method of using an eight foot pipe. Just tip the mower and strap it against a strong fence, take the propeller off, put the pipe over the crankshaft and start yarding on it.

Always remove the spark plug before doing any maintenance on the underside of any mower. It makes a mechanical accident impossible. If the clamp bar connection on the mower were to malfunction and keep the plug ‘hot’, you can start a mower by simply moving the blades. Think of old movies where the guy yelled “contact!” And manually started the propeller of an airplane, mowers work identical to this. Safety first. This is how people lose fingers from trying to work on a mower

Do you have to remove the gas and oil first to prevent them from leaking or mixing?

What are you moving to turn the crank shaft, the pull cord?

I got a replacement blade
It’s wider and heavier
I wonder if that will lessen the vibration from the bent crank shaft ?? I guess I’ll find out 😊

Another website I just watched recommended using a long pipe for this job. Banging on the shaft risks doing internal and fatal damage to the engine. The bent shaft issue could be avoided the first place if the blade was held on the shaft with shear bolts.
