This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2024 Volkswagen Atlas mid-size three-row SUV.
What’s new for 2024? The 2024 VW Atlas gets a new engine, better fuel economy compared to the old VR6, a sleeker look, a redesigned front grille with black accents that show off the large air intakes, stacked adaptive LED headlamps, an available end to end rear lightbar and an illuminated VW logo. The 2024 VW Atlas interior sees some nice updates too with more premium materials, extra standard features including, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a height adjustable passenger seat and IQ.Drive. There’s also a new model Peak Edition with a more rugged look, love that green colour.
There is just one powertrain option now for the 2024 VW Atlas , gone is the old turbocharged 4-cylinder and VR6. Instead, you get a new 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.
In Canada, standard AWD and in the US, FWD and AWD options are available.
The 2024 VW Atlas offers some great standard features now including, a 12” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 10.25” digital driver display, 6-speaker audio system, a wireless charger, heated and ventilated front seats, a power driver seat, manual passenger seat, leatherette upholstery, a heated steering wheel and power tailgate.
In Canada, the 2024 VW Atlas starts at $49,995 CAD, Peak Edition $53,995 CAD, Highline $56,995 CAD and Execline R-Line $59,995 CAD.
The 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport starts at $48,895 CAD, Highline $55,895 CAD and Execline R-Line $58,895 CAD.

In the US, the Atlas SE FWD/AWD $37,725 USD/$39,625 USD, SE w/Tech FWD/AWD $41,665 USD/$43,565 USD, Peak Edition SE w/Tech $46,555 USD,

I love German automobiles but never owned one. I’ve always bought Honda and honestly never ever had any problems. This new VW atlas in my opinion is the best looking suv in it class, I so want to buy one but am afraid of it reliability.

I ordered a new one last month thinking I’d make the final decision once I saw your review. I’ve got a 2018 exec atlas. Love the new interior and great value for the price. Waiting for a dealer test drive soon I hope. Great review as per usual.

We have a 2019 VW Atlas Exc line. We got the bench seat as well as we fit three car seats across the middle bench, while still being able to access the third row if needed. So far it has been an excellent experience as the kids grow. We have a 6year old and (2) 4 year olds. They have lots of leg room in that second row. The updates look nice but still no hybrid which we would be interested in for getting another SUV.

We have a 2021 ID4 and really enjoy the 12” main display with its haptic controls. I just don’t get how so many people have trouble with it. It works really well as do the haptic switches on the steering wheel. Crazy

My biggest gripes are the gloss black still in the interior and the fact the Harman Kardon stereo is only available on the top trim. That's inexcusable.

Great review, I just purchased a 2024 Pure Gray Atlas Cross Sport Execline. Finding little "easter eggs" not listed in a manual. You can actually shut off car while it is still in Drive mode and stopped and it also applies the Parking Brake - no need to move shifter to Park then engage Parking brake. Also first ever HUD that I can see with Polarized sunglasses :) :) :) Yep I miss the volume knob as I traded in a 2023 VW Tiguan Highline R Line. Regards Carl

A similar engine in the Tiguan would be nice. The current version of the 2.0T in the Tiguan is SO underpowered, which is a shame because the vehicle rides and handles so nicely.

Audi q7 turbo 4 I have. It is more than enough power, 30 mpg I get on highway more than advertised. In city driving 18-20. Peak trim is great looking. Vw interiors are usually better than competitors. New models Looks good

Your not wrong Mr Motormouth the front end looks like from a ford explorer the interior is a Volkswagen gti and the back is very q7 or q8 they took the best of all I think so it gets a pass as it looks damn good I’d get a vr6 though before it’s gone.

I’m not sure why so many people are tripping over the i4 in this thing….it’s the same block that’s in the base Q7…and the Q7 weights almost 1800lbs more

I think this is the same engine in Audi q5 2T. If that is the case they have fixed the transmission is finally smooth in Atlas. With great interior and better gas miles this is a good 3 row SUV

I just picked up an Atlas 2024 cross-sport...I really like it, but I think what is really not very well thought through is that the volume slider and HVAC are not backlit!

You know the 2024 atlas has voice control so you dont need to use the dash control just ask vw turn on heat etc
