Thank you for the detail on where to cut a branch and why. I feel this is valuable to most trees, and finally there's a reason. I have trouble just doing what people say. It's not how I live. Sure, if you've had a lemon tree for 20 years, I could do what you do. But without the WHY I'm going to be back soon asking a lot of questions I should be able to figure out.

I need help I don’t know what to do. I’ve had my lemon tree for 15 years and no luck and this year it almost died.

Lemons are frost sensitive and trimming in the winter can add to the potential for frost damage.

my lemon tree is 15 months old. it's one stalk with leaves on coming off the stalk. no branches. it's about 2.5 ft high

Keep in mind when you prune you remove the energy source for the tree (leaves). So it's good to remove just a bit so the tree can still grow fast.

Note the line in the branch cutting section. It starts at the point where the branch makes a v. It looks like a perfect cut, on a perfect branch uses that... Center of joint of the band carries it down away from the trunk.

Be sure not to trim them more than 1/3, then make sure to trim them at least 1/3...seems like inconsistent instructions. Maybe I’m misunderstanding?

Excellent except that we needed a life demonstration.

This theory is completely contrary to other theory here on you tube, which claims the lemon tree is "closed canopy" tree, do not let the sunshine hit the bark, it will hurt it....(i.e. do not open it up like other fruit trees as peach or apricot)
