When the weather is lousy, but the Fencing is good...

So while the weather here is still really meh to do any filming outside, we managed to film some Sidesword fencing in our local dance studio. As such, the floor is really smooth - as is the fencing 😉

In historical fencing or HEMA (for Historical European Martial Arts) we reconstruct sword fighting systems from historical sources. Our club focuses on Italian medieval and renaissance sources, fencing with the Spadone (Two-Handed Sword), Spear, Sidesword (One-Handed Sword) together with Shield, Cape, Dagger, you name it!

What Sidesword is Stephan using here? it looks a lot like a malleus XIX Early Sidesword

What gloves do you recommend for sidesword? The red dragons are somewhat uncomfortable for me and they limit my mobility quite a bit

Cool exchange without overstriking of any sort (you see it so often these days), on difficult ground because the parquet is so slippery. On a terrain like that, I'd exaggerate with low stances, just to feel stable, but you managed without.
