Preparing for a Stalker in the Office

Stalkers impact many employees and trainees. We have a responsibility to protect our teams. January is National Stalker Awareness Month.

Stalkers in movies can serve to "connect" our teams and these examples can be used as case stems or great opportunities for discussion and reflection!

YouTube is full of examples like these that can be used for a variety of educational needs.

For Human Resource Managers:
- Use videos for context and have your team identify ways they could help recognize there is a problem
- Create and office stalking safety plan
- Do our teams know who to contact with our security teams or police?
- What legal forms do we need to limit access to our facilities?

For Medical and Other Educators:
- These videos are an incredible attention getting step, provide the context for discussion or simulation
- How would you treat the victims? Alleged stalkers?
- Many stalking victims are also victims of domestic violence, how can we protect these patients earlier?
- The stress created in these situations can impact other aspects of a patient's life. What should we be doing to let the victims understand what they are feeling, whatever it is, is normal?
