The other challenge with John Wick: Chapter 5 happening is how much it would make the ending of John Wick: Chapter 4 a one-time deal. If John has further stories ahead after Ballerina (which is set between John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and John Wick Chapter 4), his return is almost certain to keep the franchise rising to new heights of success and popularity. Barring a complete box office downturn for the series in John Wick: Chapter 5, this would heavily entice Lionsgate to keep John Wick's adventures going even further.

Additionally, after already having John fake his death in John Wick: Chapter 4, this would very likely rule out John actually dying in John Wick: Chapter 5. On top of robbing of the strong ending he already had been given, such an outcome would feel anti-climactic. The return of John in John Wick: Chapter 5, as exciting as it would be, would also bring plenty of complications the movie would be forced to navigate.
