In my journey, being spiritual but not religious meant freedom. However, with no guidance based on a foundation, I almost ended up dead and most likely in help. So much for freedom. Now I know I want True Freedom in Christ. But it means doing it His Way, not mine.

My tendency is to fall into the religious side of the spectrum rather than being spiritually and religiously balanced. However, receiving the Eucharist as frequent as possible has been of tremendous help. Knowing that I am receiving Jesus himself in the Eucharist, through which He abides in me and I abide in Him, is the perfect reminder of the the perfect Spiritual and religious balance.

So well said! There are two sides to the Christian walk and it's not always easy. But God also says "seek and you shall find".

Today my wife told me you and your religion you are to religious and I responded it's not bad to be religious I quoted James 1:27 to her, she said where does that say in the bible I notices she was upset I said it's in there but you won't believe me you should look for it, well she went on to say I really dont care so It doesn't matter. I said right . She is anti Catholic, I went to church today and I also accompanied her to her church a presbyterian church thinking she would be happy today but no it was a tuff day with my family but I will continue on pick up my cross which I remind myself it's way lighter than Christ's, prayers needed brothers God Bless

Really enjoying your channel. You're spot on about this topic. I've found that most people want to believe in a God that agrees with them on everything. Most people don't want to be told how they should act or what they should do. It's only when we realize that God's ways will lead us to the best life possible that these "rules" seem less restrictive and more freeing. Lincoln said that freedom is not the right to do what we want but what we ought. Truer words were never spoken. God bless!!

Well said!!!
Submission is key for all relationships to work. Without submission we have pride. Submission is real freedom. Submission to God

Thank you. A lot of my friends say they are spiritual but not religious and it drives me insane. Most of them don't really know what it means. They just "believe" in it because everyone else is saying it.

Well said. Thank you 🙏 For me spirituality without religion is what they call "New Age". And this is also what let the people far from God. And put them in danger of loosing their soul. God bless you ✝️

"They want to worship and be connected to God WITHOUT anyone telling them how to do it." and yet these people come to my country the Philippines to TELL US THAT WE SHOULDN'T DO WHAT WE DO.

Well they are not spiritual. They are hypocritical.

That was so articulate... Our actions are our hearts... There is a false juxtaposition... We live what we believe... Thank you my friend

Although this was posted 4 years ago I really needed that questioned answered. I watched a video of someone who said they don't believe in God and that they live thier life spiritually. Yeah, spiritually in sin. It didn't sit with me well, and now I was blessed by running into this video that you posted Keith. Well said sir, your truly blessed by the Father, blessed Mother, and the fervor of the Saints.
God Bless 🙏

I’ve heard a priest say that the idea that we shouldn’t be religious but we should be spiritual is wrong because even Satan is spiritual. I believe that being religious and doing things intentionally for God’s sake, keeps us connected to God. Thank you for sharing your conversion story and your thoughts publicly. I’m sure they are helpful to many and I pray they are very informative to Protestants.

Thank you for sharing the point that we need to be both spiritual as well as religious. I used to be confused with this. You make it clear. Keep sharing such confusing things in our spiritual journey

The truth behind that kind of statement - spiritual but not religious - is they know that there are commitments religion expect of them like supporting the Church financially, which they do not like to do. Another thing, being involved in a religious organization takes their time, thus reducing their time for fun and pleasures - like spending more than an hour getting ready for Church and including one hour of listening to the Gospel and homilies which they find hard to agree with because they already have set their own belief. These are the selfish kind of people. They only care about themselves. They are also in denial, refusing to accept their faults and imperfections.

I think they both go together. I used to say I was spiritual but not religious too. For me it was an excuse to not go to church. I would also indirectly judge people that did go as just being religious and not spiritual. I'm not saying everyone does it but was just my experience.
