Perimenopause can cause heart palpitations! // It is so common to experience your first heart palpitations in perimenopause. Most women feel confused, frustrated, and worried when a workup shows a clean bill of heart health. In this video, I discuss how the declining hormone levels in perimenopause can cause benign heart palpitations and what you can do at home to help reduce or improve the symptoms!

Did you know that benign heart palpitations were a normal symptom of perimenopause and what did you do to help? TELL ME BELOW!

I am having heart palpitations as I watch this video. Last week I was in the ER with them. I went through all the testing and went home with a heart monitor. Everything checked out fine. No one mentioned this could be related to hormone changes. I came home confused and scared. Thank you so much for this video. ❤️

THANK YOU!!! I've had two trips to the ER one on Christmas and one just a week ago with heart palpitations that turned out to be benign. I'd been able to piece together that both of these did partner with alcohol consumption, (I've almost kicked it completely to the curb but not entirely) and I've also noticed an uptick in the palpitations every month 1 week before my period, so I was figuring it out based on my own personal observations that it had something to do with my hormones. Now after getting labs back, seeing my FSH is 99 and not having a period for 2 months it confirmed to me these were perimenopausal symptoms. You have now validated what I desperately needed to hear. What I am extremely disappointed in is BOTH my female PCP and gynecologist had no idea about any of this, aren't educated on HRT and can barely give me suggestions for places to go which is understandable from my PCP but not my gynecologist. I will be locating providers from your website. How in the world did we make it to 2023 and are letting half our population just walk on off the cliff at 45 years young without so much as an encouraging pat on the back. Baffling. It appears Gen X ladies are starting a menopause revolution because this shit is for real! Thank God for you!!! Adding: I'm 46 btw.

I’m 48 and perimenopausal and I’ve had palpitations for the last several years. Early on one of my friends told me it was hormone related, which was incredibly helpful to know! Around that time I somehow also discovered that eating a banana will stop the palpitations in literally just two or three minutes. I’m not sure if it works for everyone, but it always works for me.

I have had palpitations very sporadically for years, but for the last couple of years has my other perimenopausal symptoms have increased, I will have a time during the month where I have skips for three or four days at a time. It drives me nuts! Obviously, it is not life-threatening or I would be dead, but it sure gets stressful sometimes! I hate that so many of you here seem to suffer from these, but I am sure glad to know I’m not alone.

I had scary, sudden, breath-catching heart palpitations for YEARS and not one doctor, not my female PCP, gynecologist, or cardiologist mentioned that this was a symptom of peri menopause. NEVER! I had the hot flashes, insomnia, lethargy, depression, joint aches, lack of libido, hair loss, you name it and no one mentioned HRT as an option. Anti depressants and anti anxiety meds were offered. I was told to loose weight, get better sleep, deal with my anxiety, seek therapy but never was I looked at as a woman entering her menopausal years. It was not until I say Amanda Theibe and read her book Menopachalypse that it all made sense. Last May I started HRT and I can count on one had the number of sleepless nights I have had, heart palpitations are gone, hot flashes gone. All is not perfect, however. I have started to bleed again, had a polypectomy - we are trying a lower dose of estrogen to stop the bleeding. It is a trade off, true, but given how miserable I felt before, it is much more livable.

I am 51 and this has been going on for 4 years, racing heart rate, digestive issues and aching joints is the worst symptoms I have dealt with, it takes mental strength to go through this experience of perimenopause and menopause.

Thank you for this video. I'm 51, perimenopausal and experience episodes of a thumpy pounding heart. I've had it all this morning and it was bringing on brain fog, anxiety and panic attackey feelings. I've followed your exercises and said out loud the phrases you say in your video here and I now feel so much better. My heart has calmed down and I feel clearer headed. Such a relief! 🙂
I'm also drinking a cup of warm lavender and valerian tea and taken some magnesium and taurine.

I had them a lot for a year or two but not as much anymore, I too went for a physical, including ekg, along with anxiety attacks. I’m 48 now, oddly enough, my woman doctor missed this, I even told her I thought I was in peri menopause. I told her I had anxiety and depression, she didn’t connect the dots at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ I did all the research and figured it out myself

I’ve been dealing with this since the beginning of this year. I was 35 at the time. I had all the cardiac tests and everything came back normal. None of my doctors ever took me seriously when I said that I thought it was related to my hormones. It always happens when I’m about to start my period. It gives me such bad anxiety.

After reading up on periomenopause, I never would have thought my heart palpitations were a sign of hormone changes! I had all the heart check ups and was feeling defeated until a friend suggested I speak to an expert in the field. I have an appt in Feb and I am hopeful that I can some relief!

Thank you Heather, I’ve watched a few of your videos about Perimenopause and there very informative 🙏🏾. I’m 43 and dealing with a lot of the crazy and debilitating symptoms of Perimenopause and heart palpitations is one of them. I usually get mine at bedtime, sometimes it feels like my heart is trying to jump out of my chest. I’ve also been woken up from a deep sleep multiple times because of it. I’ve noticed that drinking a lot of water when this happens helps calm it down. Perimenopause is such a wild ride!!!

What a wonderful video! My PCP has me on anti anxiety meds because my heart keeps palpitating in the early morning hours and it freaks me out! I’m 50 and was 11 months without a cycle and then BAM one showed up. I’m definitely in peri and am grateful to know the palpitations are normal. Thanks for the tips on what we can do!

I have spent the last 2 1/2 months being poked prodded and tested in every way possible because I have severe PVCs. And I just taken two months for my doctor to finally listen to me when I told him I think this is menopause related. And only today did he finally agree to start me on hormonal replacement. And watching your video totally validate how I’ve been feeling. I am hopeful I might be able to sleep. So sick of my heart pounding out of my chest all night long.
