Robert Bilott: The Lawyer who was dubbed 'DuPont's Worst Nightmare'

#RightLivelihoodAward Laureate Robert Bilott has spent over 2 decades advocating for communities whose water was contaminated with toxic #PFAS, which are also called "forever chemicals."

While Bilott’s story has been gaining recognition through the Hollywood film #DarkWaters, starring Mark Ruffalo in the lead, he also filed a new case in 2018 (now proceeding in federal court in Ohio) seeking to represent a class of everyone in the United States with PFAS chemicals in their blood.

I am reading Mr. Bilott's book "EXPOSURE" right now. I do have a background in epidemiology and wildlife health, including toxicology, although I am retired due to a disabling injury. What W. Earl Tennant was finding in his cattle and in the wildlife on his property scared me. What Mr. Bilott had to learn in just a few months to make sense of the information he was getting from DuPont and other sources, on top of his full-time job and being a father, is the sort of knowledge it can take a decade to accumulate and integrate. To start out as a shy, introverted person who just wanted to keep his head down and do his job, then become a person willing to go to court, to testify before EPA and other agencies, to stand up for all the people affected by these chemicals was a phenomenal undertaking. Robert Bilott truly deserves the Right Livelihood Award. He is an amazing man, and we all need to thank him for his service to all of the beings on the plant, not just humans. Find out if your state is testing for these chemicals, what the state limits for drinking water are, where these chemicals are being found. Take an active role in pushing for tougher standards, clean-ups, providing people with clean drinking water, etc. Find out what products made by 3M and Dupont you use and STOP.

Just watched the film, which then made me do some research on it. Absolutely love Rob Bilott, what a truly amazing guy. I’m so disgusted by the utter greed of these corporations, that think its perfectly ok to ruin people’s lives and I’m so pleased he manage to get some justice for those poor people of Parkersburg, although it will be little consolation for those that have died and those who will in the future, from this disgusting poisoning.
