On a side note, that photographer got way too close to that Western Screech Owl. Babe is tall-thin, lookin like a branch with two yellow LEDs taped to it.

There is nothing like the hooting of a Great Horned Owl echoing through your chimney. The chimney amplifies the sound throughout my home.

Everyone talking about the Barn, but imagine hearing the Great Grey in the middle of the night when you're alone in your house in the middle no where.
That's how folklore is made.

We don't enjoy such a variety of owls in the UK so I was surprised to discover so many birds with so many calls. The photos are showing the birds beautifully and the recordings are clear and long enough to really appreciate them. Our barn owls sound very much like yours. Thank you so much for sharing.

some of these are lovely clear flute-like sounds, and some are charming little mini-squeaks and purrs, and some of them are just terrible terrible demon-screeches. And alien... space-ships. inter dimensional ones.
