Colwin: Witness changing story in Daniel Penny is 'devastating' to state's case | NewsNation Live

Legal analyst Mercedes Colwin joins "NewsNation Live" to break down developments in the trial against Daniel Penny. The ex-Marine is accused of fatally choking Jordan Neely, a mentally ill man experiencing homelessness, on a New York City subway last May. Eric Gonzalez, the man who helped restrain Neely, revealed Wednesday that he lied when he originally told prosecutors Neely had attacked him before the incident.

"It is so problematic when you have a key witness, who already has an agreement with the prosecutor, now changing his story," Colwin said. "That's devastating to the prosecution and it's great for the defense."

I'm a black woman i was on the subway and robbed, Jordan Neely was arrested 42 times three assaults on women someone should ask these women including myself how we feel about Neely, he hit a woman in the face and broke her nose, Neely was threatening a woman with a baby that is why Mr Penny stepped in I didn't know all this, everyone needs to hear that in the trial.

Instead it should read, "Ex-Marine is accused of fatally choking Jordan Neely, a man who was threatening and terrorizing commuters on the train telling them someone is going to die."

Interesting how Bragg is offering immunity to Eric Gonzalez, the guy who helped Penny by restraining Neely's arm and leg. Considering that Gonzalez fled the scene, went into hiding and admittedly lied to the DA when tracked down and inquired, it would make sense for Bragg to also prosecute him too no? But instead, he offers him a plea deal so he can crucify Penny.
