Wait, hold on. His dad is Military and they're losing the house? How? They are Military! They get housing and food allowance!

"Make this bubble take away my trouble?!?!?!" Literally WTF??? Was he married to a nine year old? I'm so sad that this has any sort of reference to God or church because it's so mediocre and Stupid. In Sister Act, they were bad until they had Whoopi Goldberg, but they still practiced for more than...oh, One second, before finding perfection. Holy freaking crap.

If you've seen Film Brain and Todd in the Shadows review of this movie, they mention that there isn't even a real conflict in this movie on account that Zac keeps going back to that same rooftop even when he ends up at his new school.

For a moment I thought this was High School Musical before looking at the title again. I wasn't that far off. At least HSM had some decent acting, singing, back up dancers, a semi interesting environment, and still is laughably cheesy and cringeworthy. This? Kids are going to get bored with the dull acting, few actors, poor plot line, and shallowed cliched messages.

I honestly thought this film was an hallucination I experienced when I was 10 yrs old

Ugh. The quote-unquote "high-school-aged teens" in this film look like they are old enough to worry about male pattern baldness, alimony settlements and their 401k's.

"We're at the crossroads/ My way's good and He'S bAaAdDdD" You cannot tell me that line wasn't written by a 9-year old.

The reason Christian pop or Christian rock is so bland is it can't take any risks. It can't have a revolutionary message without offending their conservative fans, it lags like 15 years behind current styles because they are reluctant to adopt new techniques. It's like trying to keep the most harmless, bubble gum pop from the 50's alive.

"If you ever get overwhelmed you can do what your mother did..."
Me being a horrible person: Die?
"She would simply put a piece of bubblegum in her mouth."
Me: So is that how she died? She choked on gum?

it's funny how they have a maybe gay character in an evangelical movie presumably from the far right

This is so long ago, but I just watched Sister Act again and was like, "Cheez, why don't they make more Musical Training Montages like this?" I mean, same "oh, we're super Christian, but kinda nerds", but in Sister Act, we establish that "oh, they actually sound good, but are technically bad" by establishing real music standards (putting your sounds together, matching volumes, and yes, attitude). Then, more importantly (and my favorite part of the scene), they're like "Also, you guys aren't practicing nearly enough-- you need to be doing this daily to get better". I just watch so many musicals (especially Cool Teen ones) where the kids just magically get better at their Underdog skill, and it makes me vomit.

When the winners gave their award to the "protagonist" I screamed at my phone.

Yeesh sister act 2 had more talent and plot than this "faith based musical" oh and the 'secular movie' even had more faith than this.

As a practicing Catholic myself, I found the whole film just offensive.

18:24 Actually, it did. When they discussed joining choirs, someone did ask if that was against the rules. The answer? NO, IT WASN'T AGAINST THE RULES! They very clearly said they went through the rules and nothing said a combo choir was not allowed. They were so desperate for any conflict the writers outright ignored what it established earlier.

The only way that Sunday school songs would be practiced at school would be if that school was a private school with ties to the church and I find it unlikely that there would be TWO private schools within a 45 min radius of each other. I grew up in the Bible Belt and we did not have that many church schools that close together.

When I first saw this I thought it was pretty good for a youth group project... Oh wait, this was made by adults? Yeah, it sucked.
