Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "The Magic Flute" as performed by Portland State University's Opera Program on 4-21-2023 in Lincoln Performance Hall. Singing is done in the original German while speaking lines are in English.

Still can't believe this is a university production. The singers are *excellent* and I really enjoyed the performances. Kudos to putting the speaking lines in English - genius!

An Oregonian, i was just randomly looking to listen to the the Magic Flute. And see what i found!

This is my all time favourite opera and I've seen many performances. This one has a vital spirit and original ideas. Sadly the brilliant Papageno doesn't sing the whole "Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja". And Bravo to the Queen of the night. I've seen famous voices struggeling. This queen does it with ease and fullfills the role.

Актеры, декорации, освещение, костюмы, крупный план съемки мне так понравились, что я досмотрела эту постановку до конца, но попытки свести логически этот нелогичный во многм сюжет, я не заметила, хотя видела это в других постановках. Например, видела такую постановку, где царицу ночи со всеми ее подопечными в конце концов Зарастро оставляет у себя без прав творить недобрые дела. Веачале Тамино помогают люди Царицы Ночи, и даже нравоучительные слова произносят, когда мудят Папагено, а в некоторых постановках их за это убивают. Да и как-то странно, что положительные персонажи становятся потом отрицательными персонажами.
