The technology they are using now is amazing. That walk from behind sensor he has on that car I had never heard of before.. It is true many cops have been killed sitting in a patrol car.. Great video...

Given all the challenges and risks in the streets today I’m glad they are being equipped with better cars and given all the possible technology to offer protection and apply the law appropriately. Well done.

That suv looks perfect. Nice to see first responders have the right equipment.

Such a clean, beautiful SUV. The newer Explorers and Tahoes are my favorite.

Wow I was on patrol in early 80s till 90 and we had the Fury, and the V6 Impalas had started to phase in. They were bare bones, lucky to have AC. I worked in Brooklyn NY east New York section. I had been wondering what the cars had now. I was one of the first to get a password to use the SP10 car. It had a big metal mount that held a 5” screen box type monitor. It was very slow, similar to AOL service. It really cramped the front and with accidents many got severe lacerations. Not many wore seat belts back then. Thank you for great video.
Peace

During my first year of police work in on Lawn Guyland Noo Yawk 1967, our patrol cars were cheap, and the type popular with salesmen. The roof had a revolving red light which was the size of a medium coffee can. It flashed once per two seconds. One radio I had usually didn’t work if car was near tall buildings. When responding to emergency assignments, one hand steered, one foot pressed the siren button on the floor, other foot operated accelerator and brakes. Lots of fun in heavy traffic. Car was dark blue painted. When weather was snow, siren speaker clogged, causing a sound similar to a dying cat. Then came the Ford Crown Victorias.

I love the flashy lights especially the ones on the bottom below the doors.

Meanwhile at my department we routinely drive pickup trucks with no police equipment in them. I should start working for these guys, lol.

The hybrids certainly don't have the power of a regular gas engine, but when you're parked 95% of the time it is definitely a big fuel saver, not to mention the reduction of engine idling hours. Only real issue I've found is that I'll slow down to approach an intersection, make sure it's clear, and stomp on the gas only to slowly roll for like 2-3 seconds waiting for the car to respond.

I want to see them go over the "bells and whistles" of a police bicycle 🚲.

Nice! I'll show this to my police colleagues here in Brazil. The only fault in the USA is when I see officers working alone. Here in my country, all police officer work is done in pairs. Always you have a brother to trust.

Great video on Explorer. Most police officers I spoke with, 9 out of 10, still prefer and miss the Crown Vic although many police depts still have them in service.
The V6 turbo seems to be problematic with the rough use by depts I'm told.
I can see why the Explorer is popular with police the comfort and storage looks great.
I'd love to have one.
