WHY MARVEL RIVALS IS CATCHING ON LIKE WILDFIRE

As we bid adieu to 2024, the year is signing off on a high note with yet another major critical and commercial success- and the game is a hero shooter. NetEase Games' Marvel Rivals released just recently, and on the back of sustained hype and anticipation over several weeks and months, the free to play multiplayer title has not only attracted a massive audience of over 10 million players in just three days, the majority of that audience also seems ecstatic about how the game itself has turned out.

At a time when it feels like the hero shooter genre and the Marvel license had both lost a significant chunk of the staggering popularity they both enjoyed until not that long ago, Marvel Rivals has come along and proven that genuine quality can trumps fatigue.

It's cool that this game is doing well but I'm nervous that this'll make even more suits and developers go "see guys?! People DO want more of these. We just gotta keep trying"! And bring in another wave of these damn games that won't have anything interesting going on making this live service era last even longer

It's free to play, it's gorgeous to look at, it plays solidly and it has movie outfits out of the gate - you can't fault it! Except the gameplay is manic! So maybe not everyones taste. Can't help but think if Marvels Avengers had the movie costumes out of the gate, it would have faired a lot better, because that's what the fans wanted.

Imagine if this company got a DC license in 5 years. Then in 10 years they play it smart and release Marvel v. DC.

They played it smart with the betas, because that reveal trailer made me think it was going to be ass. But I got to play it in July and instantly fell in love. It grew hype overtime and made people realize this is the most logical theme for the hero genre, with literal superheroes where the ability and roles make sense and characters with decades of personality.

Excited for this game, only complaint I have is that they need more Vanguards and Strategists.

I also love how player-friendly this game is. Not much skill is needed to learn a character, there’s no meta-character you don’t see all the time because almost all characters have a fighting impact against each other, and all hits feel like Hit-scan even though most projectiles aren’t meaning that it’s easier to aim (I especially love this because my father loves playing this game and has trouble with bullet-arch in most shooting games).

There's really no such thing as "super hero fatigue." Everyone loves Marvel as much as they used to, if not more. What they DON'T like is the terrible content Marvel has been producing post-Endgame. If you respect the fans, you meet with success. That's why the most successful super hero film since No Way Home has been Deadpool & Wolverine.

As an ow player the best way to describe this game is it’s a breathe of fresh air . It’s like ow but it’s better if that makes sense . I just hope they release content for it so it can continue to thrive . Remember what happened to halo . 343 ain’t release no content so the franchise really died
