People in Hong Kong have an average life expectancy of 87 years for women and 81 for men.

The southeastern Chinese city sits at the top of the global longevity table, closely followed by Japan, Iceland and Switzerland.

A healthy lifestyle, good diet and exercise are all factors that come into play.

Al Jazeera’s Rob McBride reports from Hong Kong.

This is something I don't see as much in Europe. Here the elderly are not valued as much.

They also eat a lot more meat then the rest of us, carnivores live longer. Weird how they only mention diet on vegan programmes. People in Hong Kong eat like 2 steaks a day

Obviously they are doing something right ! And some commentators will always be cynical, no matter what! Of course, exercise is part of getting older and I staying well.. and maybe some of it is genetic as well...
