My only nitpick in this story is that it's Anakin from different parents. I guess it's just a useful name, because this Anakin is just not the same character as the Anakin we got. This goes way beyond just a "what if" - you built a new character and I honestly prefer it.

I like the point about Obi-Wan being a struggling student, as it reminds me of the source fanfic writers use a lot for Obi-Wan, the now-Legends Jedi Apprentice books. From what I understand, having got this through fanfic, Obi-Wan got shipped off to the AgriCorps, though the exact way he did was Yoda meddling, because Qui-Gon had trauma from his previous padawan.

i have an idea for you: what if palpatine was publically known as a force sensitive person, but never got formal training by either the jedi or the sith? lets say damask never found him and he felt the need to state that in an election at some point.
