Vader, being a grumpy old man, is something I can't blame him for, plus Qui Gon is definitely someone who should be able to talk Darth down from doing the child genocide again.

He was the perfect father the poor chosen one needed, and now he's a nearly 7 ft asthmatic cyborg, compared to the 6 ft 4 Qui Gon.
