Ah yes, classical Retro Badger-Move.

I think the Enterprise D would have had a massive refit in the weapon and shield category had she survived to fight in the dominion war . One must remember she was the flag ship .

Not sure if/how the game simulates it, but the Sovereign is supposed to have 'regenerative' shields. Essentially, a second shield system that it swaps to while it lets the beaten shields recover integrity.

That was a really really amazing video & the Enterprise E & Enterprise D R both amazingly beautiful looking Starships

Pretty crew dependant this one I reckon. Though generally I'd have said a sovereign refit would make mincemeat of even a couple of galaxies.

I need a cigarette after that last episode of Picard

The Galaxy Class' shields are beast. Thank goodness, because she's a glass cannon without them.

if you consider what potential a War Galaxy class really has due to its modular designe, it is just sad that it never got represented that way. The Galaxyclass could house several defiant class warp and energy generators in the saucersection, with upgraded mainframes and neuro packs. With this in mind a galaxyclass would if fitted accordingly rip through most things with ease even the E wouldnt stand a chance. the inner volume of the D is about 1.5 to 1.8 times the volube of the Es and most of it was empty to begin with.

Worf said it had additional phaser arrays. The D had a single one above and below the saucer, the E had like 5-6 above and below. That's just the saucer section.

The Galaxy was a glass cannon for its size, for a ship as imposing in dimensions it wasn't very strong. HOWEVER, it was still a powerful vessel in general as it was a technologically advanced platform and we see that it packed enough of a punch that even races which used fully fledged warships dealt with it rather cautiously....it wasn't some easily dismissed ship that could just be steamrolled.

I imagine the Dominion War era Galaxies, stripped of their peacetime sandbagging (*cough* civilians and most scientific stuff) and properly armored would've been very formidable.

Yes I think it's about right with a skilled crew 💯 ..great as all ways 👍

Imagine if the Enterprise D had been a sovereign class during the episodes of The Next Generation. The galaxy would have been in big trouble.

I always felt the Galaxy Class could take a beating while to Sovereign has overwhelming offensive capabilities as it was designed more as a War/Science vessel. The Galaxy Class was intentionally more defensive than offensive, but could give the enemy a black eye.

The E had type 12 phaser arrays, when the D had type 10s. She also had massively uprated and far more powerful shields than the D, hull armour, double the phaser arrays & torpedo launchers post Insurrection, a more streamlined hull profile & a lot more durability. Oh and quantum torpedoes.

Im surprised the galaxy class after taking one or two hits, didn't try and eject the core or something because it was breached. Alot of the time the Enterprise can have a breach after a few shots from a couple of middle ranking ships, yet it can hold its own to a point against a cube or another powerful vessel. Really enjoyed the video, im subscribed!

Keep in mind, there were several refits of the Galaxy, most of them wartime refits which made it a far more deadly and survivable ship.

To be honest we’ve seen the damage a type 12 phaser does to a starship (the weapons platforms in ds9 and they are also on star bases, they literally nearly one shot ships, in three shots they destroyed a galaxy class, the sovereign having over 10 type 12 phasers it can fire simultaneously, rip any galaxy class

The sovereigns are lean-mean purpose built battleships. Type XII phasers as opposed to Type X, many torpedo launchers, twice as powerful warp core. Most importantly, and something neglected by Starfleet until the Borg incident, is carrying armor. Add all that plus incorporating the computer breakthroughs and voila! A ship twice as powerful as the Galaxy. But don't sleep on the Galaxy. It can fling more torpedoes than almost any ship. It is big and has a warp core and reactors powerful enough to make their phaser array more powerful than any other ship equipped with Type Xs. And that was before the DW. The DW refits are considerably more powerful than the stock Galaxy. Probably 75% of the Sovereign with the survivability being the only major difference.

I love your videos and really enjoyed this one! Personally I think cosmetically speaking the Galaxy is far better looking but if I had to pick between the two to command I would always go Galaxy! It may be technically inferior but there is something about it that just makes me smile.
