Our groups have LOVED Courtesans! Basically a riff on Biblios and For Sale (for those who don’t like bidding/auctions).

I like Tom had 3-4 different ways of saying the name "Lure", but none of them were the correct way to pronounce it. 😆🤣

Wow! Courtisan's is a huge hit with my play group. I recommend people try it out despite this review. Tom's opinion is valid, but not even remotely the same experience my group has had with the game.

As many others have said, my group (mostly heavier gamers) have had an absolute blast with Courtisans and would encourage others to give it a shot! It's a great little 10 - 15 minute filler and I've had games where people won with like 20 points and games where someone wins with 3 points depending on how people place cards on the table and it has been a blast. Depending on the group dynamic it can feel like a wild take that party game or a more strategic stock game which is really neat in such a small package.

Love that format when you present a few games like that.

Thanks for reviewing Boblin's Rebellion!

If Tom gives a game a 5, it's not good. If he gives it 3, then it might be good, and probably one I like. I want to see the full list of Tom's 3s.

It’s absurd to say you don’t have any real agency in courtisans. I have won every game we have played of it so far, (about 6). And yes, my wife and my daughter have beat me in many a game. Such a disservice to this game. Not to say he’s not entitled to dislike the game, but it’s just plain not true to say you have no agency in this game. There are a lot of tough choices to be made depending on who’s collecting what. But then again there are a lot of other reviews that go more in depth on this game and it’s strategy so I highly suggest to go check one of those out.

I played 13 beavers and I confirm that it was REALLY bad, I was looking forward for the game to be over!

Since I’m a light board gamer, Spotlight looked the most interesting. 😏
Actually, I just really like the mechanic. I would love to see a Where’s Waldo version.

I think Leer is a whole different game.

Open Season would probably be good as an app/online game.

Spotlight would be so cool if it was a little more complex. The mechanic is so sick.

I also nearly thought 13 Beavers was a Big Potato game. Very odd decisions, but it’s also a compliment that Big Potato is doing something good!

There are a lot of games that do Tetris well. I like the roll and write BRIKKS quite a bit. Ten tricks seems to share similarities with the game Arraial as well- except in that one, you get to choose your pieces.

Why do you have to look up the rules for the 10 effect tokens in Tentricks every time when they include a reference card for every player? Did your copy not include them?

And I'll never understand the dislike for messing with other players in games. That's part of the fun!

13 Beavers was a good time. It was simple and the family enjoyed it.

Tom, what’s a game you’d recommend that is like Courtisans?

I personally think 13 Beavers would be a good game for my family. If you have kids to play with then it will be fun to play with them.

I really enjoy the official Tetris board game which you can probably find for really cheap
