Everyone in the comments hasn’t realized that Asia has been eating soy for over 2000+ years and they’re still fine

Man, as a woman with PCOS that causes significant hormone imbalance, sometimes I sure do wish soy could magically poof away extra testosterone the way so many people seem to believe it does. Just drinking a bunch of soy milk would certainly be a much easier solution for a lot of my body’s problems! 😂

I’ve read a lot of studies that are pro soy and others that are anti soy, the conclusion that I got was that in the positives portion of every pro soy study it says that it can regulate female hormones and when it comes to the negatives they always say “no noticeable difference in estrogen levels” for males. For most of the neutral standing studies they cite that it does have hormonal effects on the human body, just not studied enough. For the anti soy studies it is mostly comprised of Asian studies where the sample sizes are extremely low, maybe due to their average diet comprising of a surprising amount of soy based foods.

Now it is genuinely my belief that companies that make processed foods use soy for a lot of processed foods because it is cheap, now every single dietician will say don’t eat too much processed foods! Let’s ask ourselves why we say processed foods can mess with hormones, but on the other hand ignore the ingredients in these processed foods.

If you avoid processed foods, you will be avoiding a ton of soy containing foods in the west. Let’s talk about the East Asian countries, the largest consumers of soy in the world, they also happen to struggle the most with infertility, have some of the lowest levels of average testosterone in the world.

I can ultimately conclude that the best course of action would be to avoid processed foods, and in doing so you would be heavily avoiding soy containing products, correlation does not mean causation, but there is only so much evidence and circumstance I can take before I start to not believe the studies in a food industry notorious for lying to its consumers.

There are two types of Soy
Fermented soy (soy that has been through a process of adding friendly mild and bacteria to make it safe for human to eat) and processed and harder for humans to digest and high in phyto oestrogens (probably spelt that wrong) this is in 80% of the food you eat in lectithins and flour (in many breads)
and can increase negative health effects like consuming processed seed oils and GMO foods.

Soy also contains giotrogens, which slow down the thyroid, also soy inhibits the conversion of testosterone into dihdryotestosterone, which is actually an important hormone despite the hair loss shit people complain about. So personally I wouldn’t wanna eat anything with soy in it, you’re free to make your own decisions tho.

I've been eating soy for the past 3-4 years and my testosterone actually shot up. I took a blood test to confirm this.

Yes, it does. It has phytoestrogens, which is not estrogen. Are you not getting something? It mimics estrogen, but isn't, and disrupts hormone production. You looked at 1 "study".

But I know how my body works.
I eat soy for like 3 years.
No side effects.
But i feel tired and lethargic all the time.

Can’t afford high quality protein coz i don’t work or earn so have to deal with it.

Sir how much protein in 60grm of cooked soya chunks? And is that okay to consume 200grm of soya chunks per day? I mean 100grm in 1 meal and 100grm in 2nd meal.

There is a larger difference between natural soy and processed soy which is in just about everything… let’s not forget that.
