2 Weeks ago I suffered a Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism, I've been lucky and I'm on the mend.

I was lucky enough to be documenting my Running so this was me looking back at how it could have happened.

Thank you for sharing. That was a great video. Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism and DVT very recently. And I am very fortunate and thankful to be alive. I'm a 46 year old male and caught Covid a few weeks ago. And when I finally started recovering from that, my left foot became very swollen and I collapsed at home. Thankfully my family was at home and heard me fall and contacted the Emergency Services within minutes of me collapsing. Once the paramedics came, they checked my pulse and found that my blood pressure was quite low, but my heart rate was higher than normal. And when I went into the ambulance, even getting to the ambulance from outside our home was tiring and I was really out of breath when I got into it. This wasn't like me and I was confused as to why this was happening. I felt very drowsy and tired, fatigued and out of breath. My breathing eventually settled down in the ambulance. The paramedic initially thought that I was weaker and tired due to my recent Covid infection. When we reached the hospital, the A&E staff did a series of blood tests, checked my swollen foot and also measured the girth of both my legs, whereby the girth of my left leg with my very swollen foot was larger than my right leg. I was advised that the doctors believed that I had two blood clots. One which was in my left leg (DVT) and a much larger one had broken off and travelled into my lung (Pulmonary Embolism). And that is why I had fainted at home and why my heart rate was higher. An X-ray was also done which showed no issues. I was then put on blood thinners via an injection into stomach and also blood thinning tablets and my heart rate started to stabilise. The next day a CT scan of my chest confirmed a large pulmonary embolism blood clot in my lung artery. And the doctor believed that there was also one in my left leg due to DVT. The doctor advised that the blood thinners had started to work and I had not fainted again as a result. I stayed in hospital for 4 days altogether and was discharged once my symptoms stabilised and have now been put on Apixaban blood thinning tablets for 6 months. With my family's great care and support and also the amazing help from all NHS staff, I am now on the slow road to recovery. I hope that my experience can help someone and if you have any similar symptoms, please contact the emergency services as possible.

Great video on a subject that doesn't get much coverage. All the best on your recovery, I'm 2 years down the line, and it does get easier and your video will help others, especially those in the early stages like yourself, of how things pan out in the initial recovery period.

Just was told yesterday i have one. Im asthmatic so my breathing was a concern. My doctor got on to it straight away because of my asmtha...normal meds weren't working. After blood test found out i had very high d-dimer...sign of a clot, so straight to hospital for chest xray to rule out infection, collapsed lung. All good so ct scan the same day. And yes a clot in the lungs. Im lucking in knowing my breathing because of my asthma so was in quick. Looking back a coulpe of weeks before, the systems were there...now i know what to look for. Not sure whats ahead yet, will just take each day as it comes. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thank you for sharing your video. You are a Survivor! I am grateful to have survived huge, continuous blood clots in both legs from ankles to my abdomen that moved into my lungs. My organs were shutting down. My newborn daughter wasn't a month old yet. I am thankful for each day I awake.

So I have had multiple DVT's and PE's since 2005. You want to get yourself checked for a clotting disorder. I have Factor V Leiden which is the main one that causes this. Up to 5% of us have genes that may lead to this.

Great looking product, shame it had to come to this, I was involved in a collision today, and I could've done with a camera, on the way to order one.
Ps I suffered a pulmonary embolism 4 years ago, I'm just getting back to normal, can I give you a bit of advice? Take your time, it does get better, all the best

Hey Mrchilltech. Thanks for the video. I just turned 60 and missed my daughter's surprise birthday for me because I was in the hospital with multiple PE's in both lungs. Can you tell me how long it took you to get back your wind and running again full-time?
Thanks again

hospital piss me off, they keep you for hours and do absolutely nothing but annoy you, wasting your time instead of getting you the treatment you need to get you out of there- it's not about the people it's about them keeping you there to collect more and more money off your insurance while u WAIT for nothing for numerous hours...
