Entry-Level Fountain Pens, Fountain-Pen Friendly Notebooks, and Inks | Tips For Beginners

Hi friends! As November 5 is known as Fountain Pen Day, I wanted to share my recommendations for entry-level fountain pens as well as fountain-pen friendly notebooks and thoughts about ink. If you've been wanting to try fountain pens (but maybe are intimidated with starting), I hope this video encourages you to give them a try because it's quite a fun adventure!

Of course there are other pens that make great starters - these are just the ones I've tried and enjoy. I also have some "intermediate" fountain pens (limited edition/pricier) that I can share in a Part 2 video. Let me know if there are questions I didn't touch on in this video, as there's so much more to talk about!

If you need to trouble shoot or want to see tutorials on actually filling a pen with ink (I only talk about the process in this video) or cleaning your pen, then I would highly recommend the videos by Goulet Pens...I learned so many tips from watching them!

I have a pilot fofuntain, not takes IC100 is not retractable....will IC 50 cartridges fit this just retractable? interesting re: one do you recommend for the basic pilot you demostrated? (red capped)

Hi, thanks for this short and very informative video! I was wondering do you have a recommendation for a good fountain pen ink that is writing dry and that is archival? I have Platinum Carbon Black and I feel like it is very wet. I use it in Twsbi Eco Fine nib and Pilot Kakuno Fine. Thanks.
