My family has a history of hoarding disorder. I saw myself going down the same path, but I found a solution. Take pictures of those items!!! I am 60...I had my old tricycle, rocking horse, etc. from years of stuff. I found that taking pictures of those items, then letting them go, is SO freeing! I still have a picture of the item, which makes it easier to remember if I feel the need to. It is also a way to show that "memory" to others. Now I DO have a fairly large box of pictures, but it takes up a LOT less space than the original items.

Thanks for everything Aki 🥰

I'm in a very hard part of my life right now, living in a very unsafe city, praying all the time to get out of it. Your videos are one of the only things that make me feel better, less heavy inside. I watched a of them recently, and I'm on my way to take back my own life in my hands. I eat healthier things, eat less, started exercising, enjoying calm moments, got rid of plenty of unnecessary items, put order in my house and donated a lot in the last month. I even lost the weight I gained during the summer! I feel more and more empowered and calm. You really help me push through this and keep motivation
Thanks a lot 🫶

when getting rid of possessions think of it as a sculptor cutting off the bits that are not needed for the final sculpture. if you keep everything, you're a chunk of rock. when you remove what you don't need/use/like anymore, you are becoming a work of art!

This is a marvelous and unique approach to letting go of things! And thank you for your honesty in admitting that there can sometimes be de-cluttering mistakes.

My 6 & 8 year old boys ended up watching this with me this morning, just by chance, and the difficulty getting rid of gifts resonated with my 8 year old. Another lovely video!

I think all the mindsets can be helpful at different times in life. As an older person now, I have sentimental photos, cards, notes and quotes, journals, etc. as I sort I realize that I have fully assimilated whatever I needed from holding on and I can let go of many things. I also really resonate with how weighted items can pull down the energy in a room. Space and a clutter free environment is so important and something that I would have benefited from as a young mother, now I understand. I could never stay on top of it all no matter how hard I tried. Everything you mentioned is a piece of wisdom that I am sure will help others.🙏

The other day a guest jokingly asked if I had been a victim of robbery because my house seemed empty. He wasn't used to seeing clear spaces on walls and floors. If something doesn't bring enjoyment or serve a purpose, then it's only a burden.

First I stop buying the things doesnt make me feel satisfyed hundered percent or bad quality things that is cheap and not long - lasting. Then I got rid off my "stuffs" that I was thinking it can be usefull one day, blablablabla... I give half of my clothes to my mommy and put half of them to the trash and I learned how to do stitching. I fixed my clothes and make bags from them ( the ones thats its too little for me now ) I took my make up products to another room cuz I dont use them everyday. Same goes with my books. If I dont use something daily, then it doesnt deserve to be in mr room. I feel more clean and fresh now. I can even say it helped me to reduce my anxiety. Im so glad to make first step to be minimalist, thank you for the tips and video my friend ✨

The empty space respect is very true. Many people I know feel that the space must be filled. The space looks nice, but can be very overwhelming, too busy looking.

I have also thrown things out and went looking for them later. But, it helped me to focus on what I kept.

So fun!

Money and Things are separate was my favorite. I like valuing the thing for what it is, not a price tag.

I just went through this by getting rid of keepsakes from my travels. But they were in a box that I'd rarely open. I realized i didn't need to open the box for the memories of those travels!

Fantastic presentation, your personality really does shine through the more you let go. One thing I realised for myself was that prioritising attachment to memories, was saying to myself that my past is more important than my present and future. Effectively that made me think and feel that the present moment and my future had no value, and that kept me stuck. That wasn't living, it was just being a nostalgic zombie. With a liberated perspective, our best years are still to come. And that is made by a clear environment supporting a clear mind.

This summer I decided to let go of the whole bag of clothes I wear once a year tops.
Your video of how you realised that your coat is nice but you are not going to wear it often or at all, inspired me to let go of the clothes I didn’t really need anymore.

Hi. I have been on a downsize/declutter path for a couple years now. All of your videos are helpful and lovely. This one was really a perfect list of concepts. Thanks!

Aki, you’ve perfectly captured the challenges that arise as you dive deeper into your minimalism journey. The initial phase of decluttering is tough, but once you get into the flow, it becomes easier until your space feels less cluttered. At that point, using your strategies becomes essential. I love your videos—they’re not only helpful but also incredibly calming. Thank you so much!
