Stanford University's 11th president Marc Tessier-Lavigne announced his resignation amid serious doubts over his integrity as an academic and scientist. Once hailed as a potential Nobel-prize winner for a discovery that could cure Alzheimer's, Tessier-Lavigne and his research suddenly didn't pan out. And it wasn't the only published work that seemed super sus. In fact, an investigative committee concluded that this vibe happened way too frequently for comfort. But is he guilty or not? And what did the investigation conclude? Do you believe it?

Sean this is awesome news. I do ❤ listening to you. Research institutions are held at extremely high levels due to validation. In the final analysis, the President resigned because it would have impacted Stanford University's credibility. Excellent news. Fighting🥰

You are a star at explaining in layman terms what actually happened so we can decide for ourselves if he is guilty or not! Of course, it also depends on one’s bias and can be misleading if they veer off. We are not on the same side of things sometimes so I will research this person’s personal profile and see who he was to begin with! Thanks so much for your explanation. It is very enlightening!

As I first listened to this, my first thought was, "where was the Internal Review Board (IRB) in all of this?" When I conducted my healthcare research at FSU, the IRB was rigorously reviewing my thesis with each draft and the defense." Yes, the academics should have really reviewed the initial research before an undergrad caught it.

Money wise it is not on par with Elizabeth Holmes but with Alzheimer’s on the rise it could have taken precious research monies down a dead end road. Since there may be no way to prove it was done intentionally the best result is that he resign and maybe leave the academic world. Glad you’re back!
