Picked up the 8th gen 7, with m.2 and 11pro installed for $114 plus shipping on eBay. Got lucky! This laptop is great for everything. School, work and play. Even with upgrade costs, better than the new ones coming out these days. Upgraded to 2tb and 32gb ram. Batteries still at 70%. So those might be next. Great video showcasing the little beast.

Bought one 2 days ago. Card reader, fingerprint, backlit keyboard (although German), FHD, basically everything I wanted except touch screen but that's whatever. For just 250 euros, base spec but I'll buy cheap upgrades off amazon or something. Love it, minimal damages keyboard and everything is flawless 🔥🔥🔥

Just bought one in pristine condition - new screen - new keyboard, 16 GB of new RAM, new 1 TB SSD drive, Win 11 Pro, new battery, for £295 ($360) delivered from a reputable supplier! Construction is FAR better than recent ThinkPads, and everything is upgradeable/repairable. On recent models, everything is on the motherboard and repairs simply aren't economically viable. Easy to find - my source has 2, 800 in stock. If you don't need high end gaming, this is the best buy on the market and should last for years.

I highly recommend undervolting the CPU of your Thinkpad T480. Previously, my i5-8350U scored 3300 in 3 passes, now it can get 3900 for 3 passes, or over 4k for a single run. (Cinebench R23)

It’s funny your i5 CPU performed better than my i7-8650U by 300 points (R23) even though my CPU has a better cooling system (dual heat pipe which only comes with dedicated GPU).
My laptop stutters a lot in Minecraft and other games compared to you, and the display is not even Full HD!. I think I lost the silicon lottery. I’m still thankful I own one of the greatest laptops out there, I didn’t buy it for gaming in the first place.

I appreciate your video 👍.

I have the ThinkPad T480s. Intel Quad-Core i5-8350U with 1.7GHz, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD. It's a Linux machine now. I plan on more mods, but I can't seem to find time and access to another laptop to do everything at once. Dual fans, memory expansion, possibly a touch screen mod, but performance first.

I would also look at the L380, while it lack the build quality of a T480, ive found mine to be awesome once I switched to linux mint. I got it for $200 with i7 8550u 16gm, 512 SSD and FHD display

I thought I made a mistake by not getting the "s" model. But now I don't think so. The "external" battery can be swapped out so the battery life is long and could be made longer with more batteries.

Will be usable for another 10 years. Other planned obsolescence laptop like MacBook Air M1 only last 3 years that is if a soldered SSD doesn’t die first lol

T580 is the larger version of T480 but is still the same so don't ignore that baby the only reason to get a smaller T480 is so you can take it anywhere you want. If you're the type of person who needs a laptop for browsing the web, youtube videos, or you have kids those babies are so cheap that if they break you can just take it to any computer repair store and ask how much would it cost to repair a T480 and chances are it will be cheaper since the parts are always readily available. I know a computer repair store who completely took the time scanning the chassis and cases of every Lenovo Thinkpad that he can have them manufactured and sold cheaper to other computer repair stores which is his second market other computer stores.

You will see more Lenovo Thinkpad repair stores because a lot of these people love repairing and selling them so cheap because its always 100% out of the door types.

I got its smaller sibling, X280, but without backlit keyboard. I wonder if I can replace it into backlit one. Otherwise, it performs well for my needs.
