I did the same thing as you did, about the same time or aa year or so earlier. I bought a TroyBilt 6that was a year or two old, with a blown 17.5 Briggs. I had an old Craftsman 16 hp two cylinder opposed, and used that, with minimal adaption. The tractor has plenty of power, and just runs smoothly. I put an electronic coil on to eliminate the points and condenser. The crank was a tad too long, so I put 4, 3/4 inch nuts under the engine to raise it up a little. I made a drive sleave from a collar and it works great. I've been using it for three or four years now.

I have the modern version of the 2006 troy-bilt pony riding mower and I changed its 17.5hp engine with a 27hp engine and pully swap it at the same time. hope it comes out good, this video helped very much thanks!

I got exactly the same engine you removed, a rebuild would had been nice, cuz mine its acting up and one valve dont open, but the camshaft its good, idk whats wrong with it, lol

Great job! I have an 07 troybuilt i blew the 19 hp. Kohler engine, would a 19.5 hp. Briggs bolt on it? Would i need to buy anything to make the exchange of engine? The mower is a hydro trans. Your attitude and enthusiasm makes this look like fun, it's contagious, which is very good. I also like to fix things, if possible, instead of buying. Wish more people had your attitude . God bless.

Wipe everything down with a clean rag and then spray paint with high gloss clear paint.. It is fast, brightens dull faded areas and last..

i know this is an old thread but heres my question, , i have a husqvarna 2046 it had a 20hp engine, blew up, , so i found a like new briggs powerbuilt engine 17.5 really cheap, ,put it on and everything went great, til i got to the wiring, , totally different im not sure what goes where, ,any tips on those 6 wire plugs, ,im afraid to just plug here and there and wait for the fire, ,, any help will be appreciated thanks ...

I bought a replacement 17.5 hp Briggs for my Troybilt but the New engine has a different wiring connector. Don’t they make a wiring adapter for this? It looks like a Briggs #698330 part number on EBay. Is that what I need?

Would a Briggs & Stratton Intek™ 540cc 19 Gross HP OHV Electric Start Vertical Engine, 1" x 3-5/32" Crankshaft, 1/4" Straight Keyway work on this tractor? I am looking on purchasing this motor, to replace the motor on my tractor.

If the threaded rod is for alignment purposes only then 2 would do just as good as 4.
