From what i can tell, it appears that at the beginning, the parents loved BOTH Maddie and Cupcake. But for some reason, the parents slowly began to verbally abuse Maddie over time judging by the clouds over their mouths and her face. They hid it from Cupcake and treated him like normal, basically favouring him over Maddie. The abuse just got even worse to the point Maddie is terrified, and then the father dies. Cupcake finally sees the abuse.

It's still unclear why the parents just suddenly began to abuse Maddie out of the blue and favour Cupcake. At the start it appeared that they did love her as much as Cupcake. But of course, CrazedCake knows a ton more than i (since they're their characters obviously).

I love that even through what Maddie has been through she can't bring herself to hate Cupcake. And actually feels bad that their father died because she knows that they were close. She just wants to know why she couldn't have that relationship with them.

I'm guessing that Maddie was the hated child of the family, while Cupcake was the exact opposite, though Maddie never grew to hate him.

The hand over Cupcake's face was probably representing that the parents wanted nothing to do with Maddie, and were putting on a facade by manipulating Cupcake to thinking that Maddie was fine, although he never knew what his parents behaved with Maddie so he probably never found out about the abuse.

Eventually, Cupcake would be taking over for his father's bakery, but still struck by grief as well as stress eating what his father used to bake for them.

This is when Cupcake began robbing bakeries, but for what reason? Well I'm guessing it was probably because of his father. The cupcakes he made for both of them became a sort of comfort food for Cupcake after he passed away. So he started robbing bakeries to find more of this comfort food, as it's what helps to calm him.

That's just one of the reasons, but the second reason could be that he's robbing bakeries to supply his own.

okay I have never seen these characters before but i think I've slowly been able to piece together what's happening. In the beginning, maddie and cupcake (his name is written as christopher but everyone is calling him cupcake so I'm assuming there's a reason, probably a nickname of sorts) seem to be pretty happy, having cupcakes with presumably their father. in the first round of black and whites etc, it seems like maddie started off being treated relatively decent. in the end of the first round, you can see what looks like what looks like the parents eyes? I'm gonna assume this is some sort of indicator that her parents started to become strict to her. in the second round it seems that cupcake continues to be treated normally. in the third round the eyes are still on maddie, so it seem she experience of being 'watched' and judged by her parents continues, but then there are clouds over the parents mouths and based on Maddie's expressions I'm assuming this means they started verbally abusing her. in the fourth round, cupcake is smiling and the father(?) is covering his eyes and I think this means that they hid their abuse of maddie from cupcake, so cupcake was under the impression that everything was normal, but when the father disappears, the mothers eyes begin to show. I think this means that once the father died, the mother began being strict to cupcake too (maybe it was her way of coping with the father's death?). in the fifth round we can see both parents yelling at maddie and maddie seeming terrified, implying the abuse only got worse over time. in the sixth round, the parents are happily smiling with cupcake but then they turn to maddie and the eyes appear again, further reinforcing the idea that they kept cupcake in the dark of the way they were treating maddie. in the sixth round, maddie is rushing to cupcake, probably seeking protection because 1) it seems like cupcake is the older sibling and 2) the parents dont yell at her with cupcake around. the dark faces are shown to have been what caused maddie to hide but smiling masks are put over them so cupcake doesnt see. in the seventh round, the parents aren't in the scene but maddie is still terrified and cupcake is just so confused as to why maddie is so scared because he's been sheltered from the reality. oh lol I just realized why he goes by cupcake, reading the note on his room door. maddie goes in his room and...I'm not sure who that is outside the window but i feel like they're related to the father's death. then the father's death is shown when his portrait is replaced with a grave. it clips to maddie, probably showing her reaction to his death by showing the scene of him yelling at her followed with a scene where he's replaced by a grave. it seems to me that she doesn't really know how to feel about the death of someone who abused her, which is a very real experience for a lot of people. it does the same thing showing how cupcake is really heartbroken and upset. it shows the bakery will be renamed (probably because it was named after the father who is now dead/without the father's income they couldn't keep the bakery) and cupcake eating a cupcake, followed by cupcakes surrounding him. ir feel like this is either him eating them because they remind him of his dad or showing how hes just generally eating more as a way to cope (or both). in the next scene, it goes back to maddie looking outside the window and what appears to be a person with a crowbar (maybe they broke in and killed the dad?). also there's some sort of rope up to cupcakes room which is...strange? did the crowbar guy get that up there? was it a silly thing cupcake had that the crowbar guy ended up using to break in? if so i can see cupcake blaming himself for his father's death. I'm assuming the rope related to the death..then it shows that maddie left the room, maybe because of cupcake not being there. then back to after the father's death, it seems that as maddie got older she was kind of desensitized to being abused/started being openly less obedient/both and .... the next scene, it seems like she might be hurt? and shes stitching "I'm sorry" into a cloth, maybe as a punishment for being disobedient? then it shows someone who looks like cupcake breaking open the window? not sure if this is an unrelated event to the death, but I'm pretty sure it is because he's wearing the outfit he wore after the death. I feel like maybe after his mom got worse he got less mentally stable and possibly did this out of anger or to take something? but it s a dark parallel...if not, I'm assuming the crowbar guy was actually cupcake all along but I'm also assuming that he didn't kill the father because of his reaction to the father's death. maybe he did this as a reaction to finding out about how fucked up things were and how it was hidden from him? maybe he somehow accidentally killed the father? maybe both? as in he reacted to finding this out by killing his idk not sure about the last bits, any ideas?

Cupcake was the favorite child, and the parents were abusive toward Maddie and kept Cupcake completely in the dark about the situation. Every time Maddie would run to Cupcake for help/comfort, the parents would act nice and would gaslight Maddie as well as lying to Cupcake. This resulted in the siblings having two outlooks on the parents. Eventually Cupcake was clued in after the dad died. He was horrified and ran away. After Cupcake ran away, Maddie was still be harassed/gas lighted by her mom. This drove Maddie insane. Then one day the bakery was robbed by none other then cupcake.

This so cool, totally worth the wait. It's also refreshing to see a radio meme that isn't just two frames of a character going back and forth, or headbobbing. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it's nice to see something different sometimes! Also, I really like the different relationships between Maddie and the parents vs cupcake and the parents, and how maybe they have a hard time connecting after they're father's passing because of theyre respective relationships. I LOVE THIS STORY
