Always wondered what type an interaction a Fredericksburg German Texan and a Sconnie German American would look like when it came to beers and brats. For the record Fredericksburg is a smallish more so midsized town now in TX that was established by German immigrants in the 1800s it has a unique history regarding it’s descents like Nimitz as in Admiral Nimitz as in the USS Nimitz Supercarrier Class named after him. They are also big on wine there and the German Christmas festival. A lot of German restaurants a few beer halls. It is so significant the immigration for Germans to Texas that they teach it in Texas History in public schools and may still assign literature specific to the telling of that story, if I recall correctly it was titled “A Paradise Called Texas”. Settling down in Chicago and learning a parallel history of German immigrants to the region it is quite interesting.

In Alabama it’s pretty common for people to have ketchup and mustard on a hotdog. My friend’s family is from Wisconsin and one happy Independence Day his dad made brats. I reached for the ketchup and from about 30ft with pinpoint accuracy he hurled a bottle of mustard at me and knocked the ketchup out of my hand. I freaked out and was absolutely awestruck. His reply was, “don’t be impressed. I was aiming for your head.”

As a kid, I'd call bratwurst "mustard meat" so you can tell which one I am 😂
