I am from Uttarakhand and also qualified NCC C certificate with A grade till my PG, I missed my time when selected for OTA in 2006, but hard luck in medical. After my batch some of my friends selected in the subsequent batches and still serving in Indian army as lt.col. I still remember my hard luck even same happened in Air force after my PABT. Later i selected in cabinet secretariat (R&W) as DFO then in SFO(ARC). And i have to left it because of corruption and no powers given to us by earlier governments. But now living my life in some corner and doing job in pvt. Sector to earn and support my family my daughter. But trust me I never forget those memories how enthusiastic we were to serve our nation which is still somewhere inside the heart.

When a Brig or Gen Officer who is a Col of the Regt of a Unit visits the Unit as Col of the Regt only then he wears the Colonel Badges.

My uncle was colonel of Garwhal scouts he used to keep that rank even when he became brigadier. Yes you have given correct information 👍

Though he is a Lt Gen. But whenever they used to visit their unit they use to wear the rank of colonel
I learnt this from a colenl rank officer

Same thing can be said for Captain in Navy. It is even more confusing, Captain is a rank as well as any commanding officer on a ship is called Captain of that ship. For example a small ship like Patrol Boat can have a Lieutenants as a CO (Captain), while bigger ship like an aircraft carrier it might be a an actual Captain rank who is a CO. In reality most CO's of ships are actually junior than the Captain rank. Many Lt Commanders or Commanders are CO's (Captain) on most of the frigates, Destroyers, Corvettes, Cruisers Etc. Irony is if a Captain rank officer is a visiting a ship for whatever reason, he has to call the commanding officer a Captain even though the Commanding officer is much junior than him.

He is retired now. Current Colonel of the Parachute Regiment is Maj. Gen Sanjay Singh (3PARA SF As well as 17PARA).
