I have lived with dogs majority of my life, I don’t Own them but my mom rescues dogs people abandon .. that being said. . I don’t like dogs … they are too needy and too much responsibility for majority of humans … I wish Americans stopped buying dogs only because their cute puppy stages .. because then they realize how expensive dogs can be . . When someone tells me they are thinking of getting a dog I tell them don’t do it unless you’re willing to spend time training and taking care of the poor dog .

This is a weird thing to defend, if dogs shiting and pissing on every patch of grass makes a big city smell awful and actually disgusting. I would rather think the same. Like I love my dog very much but it's not worth it for me to live life in that smell. I probably wouldn't even have a dog ina city like that

I live in NYC and I love dogs. I also greatly dislike the increase in homeless here. But we do have a problem with too many people not picking up after their dogs which makes the sidewalks more filthy. Most people are respectful and clean up after their pets but enough people are thoughtless jerks that it becomes a problem. It’s because there are so many people here crammed into a small region. When you have that much density, there will be a certain percentage who are selfish thoughtless jerks and their acts of thoughtlessness will stand out. You can’t compare it to the density of a small midwestern city.

While I don’t think Dogs should be banned from cities, I think it is import for people to ask if their living situation is a positive environment for certain dog breeds. City life can make it difficult for regular walk schedules, enrichment, and waste management is crucial for shared spaces. I notice the conversation is specifically about Urine, but excrement is an issue that needs regulation.

Human urine smells much much worse than dog urine. I've had dogs for decades, and their pee has never overwhelmed my nose. Human public bathrooms

Side note. I just returned from France. People in Paris walk their dogs on the sidewalks and their animals poop on the sidewalk. The humans don’t pick it up. That’s nasty. Not to mention the amount of cigarettes on the floor. 🤮 nasty what a disappointment

Seriously I love my dog and have taken out loans for his training because I know he is going to get big and want to make sure he is the best behaved dog out there
